Hops Cottage

Very quiet location, lovely cottage and even sat in the garden!

The cottage was clean and comfortable. We stayed for a trip to Alton Towers, so didn't spend too much time at the cottage, but everything we needed was provided. The kitchen was very well equipped, and the cottage has a lovely cosy feel to it. We did stay during a bit of a heatwave, and the upstairs of the cottage gets extremely hot, so we did need to purchase a couple of fans for our stay. However, I would love to stay in the winter to make sure of the fire. The communication from the host and directions to find the property were perfect!! Thank you for a wonderful stay, and will most definitely book again if ever travelling to the area. The front door (entrance) is down a very small walkway, so to be mindful when packing and needing to unload the car. Also the property is semi detached. We booked it thinking it would be detached (from the pics). Only because we have two young noisy children and was worried of the noise they would make. However, they were very well behaved luckily :-)

What a lovely cottage, a real home from home. A fully equipt kitchen, cozy living room with enough space for four, and spacious dining area. Strong wiifi connection and excellent connections to local roads with minimal noise disturbance. We were lucky with the weather and enjoyed being able to sit in the garden and watch the many flying visitors come and go. Would definately recommend and consider returning.

Hard to find fault but if i had to say anything at, cereal bowls could have been slightly bigger, shower could do with a little more pressure and double bed needs the bolts tightening (bit squeeky). Had seen from other reviews this had been mentioned before, but by using booking.com we were sent most emails twice (booking.com & Sykes).

It was in a lovely location, near to the bus stop. Be aware this is not in Ashbourne. The closest town is Uttoxeter. We caught the bus to Sudbury Hall one of the days. Great wifi, comfy beds

There was zero contact with the owners. I sent a couple of messages before we arrived, with no response. When I requested a check in between 3-4 it was automatically declined. I know we've had a rainy Feb but feel like the grass shouldn't have been left in such a state, especially as we had dry weather. The listing says it's detached but it isn't. (Also says it's in Ashbourne but it isn't). There is no iron or ironing board, which is what I'd expect from the most basic of accommodation. We were provided 1.5 rolls of toilet paper which ran out on day 2...I think a lot of issues could be resolved with some better communication from the owners. It's booked via booking.com, via Sykes....cut out the middle men please 🙏
