Too many rules

The location was good. House was spacious for 6 people. Checkin was easy.

There were way too many instructions which made the stay less comfortable, and enjoyable. Every moment we were concerned if we would miss doing something from the instruction list. The moment I booked this house, I received a list of instructions of to do's and not to do's. Some amout of rules are ok. But these many, made us irritated even before entering the house. Moreover, Jacuzzi was meant only for soaking. Single beds are not comfortable at all. No toiletries provided. I would definitely not go again to this place given an option.

Surprising fees

When you decide to agree on the high pet fee, be mindful that there's also a high-level cleaning fee not included in the listed price. They say it's "clearly" stated in the description, so don't overlook it as I did. Of course, everything looks correct and legal. However, there must be something wrong. That's the exact feeling driving me away from Airbnb.

Lovely spot to watch the sunset

I had only one night on Vancouver island so I wanted somewhere with a nice view. This place has a great view overlooking the water, with other islands and mountains in the background. As someone else mentioned, there are powerlines that detract a little from the view, but it was lovely to watch the sunset and sunrise. The rooms are very spacious and the bathtub was a welcome treat. The place is spotlessly clean and not too far to drive to the very quaint little town of Ladysmith. You could walk to one set of shops but the town would be a fair hike. Self check in was easy and the host made sure we had everything we needed.

The beds are memory foam, which is not my favourite but others might like. The blinds in the bedrooms are not block out, so we both woke up at 5am with the sunrise. I didn’t notice that there was a 150 CAD cleaning fee until after I’d booked. That’s on me but just a heads up.

Close to my family

The OCEAN view was exceptional - the residence was well set up for guests. Kitchen was a dream and bathrooms were well appointed as was the whole house. The bonus was the washer and dryer - altho dryer needs a new thermostat. There is a lovely deck and bbq which we couldn't use because the weather was cold and wet - but a nice feature.

The residence is in bad need of maintenance - a lot of little things that go unaddressed if you're not living in the space. We had an issue with hot air from the unit below - had to open all doors and windows in order to breathe. I've noted the upgrades that need addressing privately. ALSO, you should know - I booked online and the price quoted through Booking.com was not the price I paid. The rate rose significantly over the week into the weekend - we were not AWARE of that - ending up costing over $2,000. for one week - We are seniors and the pension doesn't make room for that kind of luxurious holiday.

Loved the view. Kitchen had everything we needed plus extra little things. Home away from home vibes. We had a stay cation and it was worth it! Communication with host was amazing! Loved the self check-in/check-out

My boys love to play but we did our best to keep them content, keeping in mind there was others downstairs. Maybe some family games along with the books already there?

Jacuzzi bath is shut down which I was looking forward to using. The reason I gave the cleaning a low mark is because of the on-sweet toilet was not cleaned them are the only two things that weren’t satisfactory

property itself was great, only tiny issue which I gave one lower mark for was the view because of all the power lines. But look beyond them and the view of the water was amazing.
