Amazing location, right on the water's edge. The host was very informative and friendly. Very clean place with lovely comfy bed. Was great sleeping with the window open listening to the waves. The sunroom at the front was lovely to sit in. Local creole eaterie Black Pearl was mouth watering, and the Hillbilly cafe just up the road from the accommodation was a great little place. Fabulous beach with turquoise water just across the bay, and numerous little coves going a bit further north. Great for wild swimming.
We were lucky that, for most of our stay, we had the place to ourselves, so the shared bathroom wasn't an issue. I can imagine it's not to everyone's taste though.

The location is absolutely brilliant. The loch is only a few metres away. I went to sleep listening to the waves every night and saw seals swimming from our room window. There are a few small shops, cafes and restaurants within easy walking distance. The room is comfy and the owner, Ian, is friendly and helpful. There’s also a fridge and microwave with a little conservatory with seating so we didn’t need to eat out all the time
We’re already planning on coming back!
Nothing at all! We loved it.

We so enjoyed our stay at the Port House. Accommodations were clean and quiet, the owner Ian was friendly and helpful, and the view was worth a million dollars. Very centrally located.

This is such a hidden gem. Ian is such a wonderful host and the fact that he's from the village and the property belonged to his Grandparents and he's keeping it in family hands rather than selling was so lovely!
Our room was large, full of everything we needed, and the bed was super comfy. The best thing was the views - the ocean was right outside our window. We slept with the windows open to hear the lovely ocean sounds. The house and the area are so quiet. Although there is a shared bathroom - it's large, immaculate and the power shower is next level! There is a toilet downstairs too. The host Ian is fantastic and friendly and full of knowledge of the area as he's born and bread there. What a difference that makes!!
Nothing - only that we couldn't stay longer due to work commitments! Please don't view not having your own bathroom as a negative - look at as an adventure! Plus you may luck out like we did and there were no other guests there so we ended up having our own bathroom. Please support this local owner and his lovely house!

Comfortable bed and the environment was warm.
Rather basic small room, no en suite facilities, shared bathroom, no breakfast provided.

Perfect setting, amazing views, and close to everything you would need. The rooms are clean spacious and comfortable. I have stayed here twice now as I love the location, even saw a minkie whale feeding in the loch outside the property.

The view across lovely loch Gairloch from our first floor window. The outside seating was a great place to eat our fish & chips from the chippy just up the road
We also appreciated the use of fridge and microwave, with some crockery and cutlery provided.
The host, Ian, took a lot of trouble to message us and make sure we could access the property.
The shared bathroom, although this caused us no problems, especially as there was also another toilet available downstairs.

Everything was good, especially the location and the owner was really nice and helpful
The price however was a bit too high for our wallet

We actually didn’t stay as we could not get any contact from the host as code needed to gain access. Via email or telephone. Ended up booking another hotel as no response after half an hour. Host eventually contacted us over an hour later but we had already found alternative accommodation.

We recieved a very friendly, warm welcome from the host. The room was nice, clean and spacious with a big smart TV and an amazing view to the bay. All shops are in a walking distance. Overall we were very satisfied and would definitely come back again on our next NC500 trip! 😊

Good location with lovely view
Shared bathroom with 3 other rooms

Rooms were supplied with tea, coffee, plates and cutlery so it was easy to have a simple meal with our supplies. We also visited local restaurants.
It would have been great to stay another night but we didn't get ourselves organised early enough for that.

The host was very helpful when the television didn't work. The room was very comfortable and had a great view. Although shared, the bathroom was very well presented. Close to local restaurants and right on the beach
Possibly slightly over-priced.

I feel the location and hotel was fantastic Ian was a great host, told me all the local amenities etc, to offer sky and Netflix which was a bonus for me as we, and to be waken with the noise of the sea and also seagulls and the sea air was certainly a bonus, refreshing,,,, the local chippy was an added bonus one of the best pieces of fish I’ve ever tasted, if anyone does stay around the Porthouse it’s just 1 min walk up the hill. So very highly recommended..
I feel the price if I was paying was hugely steep for 1 night stay and with nothing like bed and breakfast or evening meal but other than that nothing was bad

Water pressure in the shower low

Lovely spot with views over Gairloch
Slightly better curtains to stop the morning light would be useful. If the tv was mounted on the wall there would be space for table to sit at, that could have storage underneath making better use of the space in the room.

Quite a small room. Shared bathroom a little awkward to get to.

Stunning location, set right on the coast, with beautiful views. The property was easy to find and the room was a good size with a comfy bed and great facilities.
It’s a shame there aren’t en-suite rooms. That being said, the shared facilities didn’t cause us any problems.

Great sea view from the front rooms👌
Overpriced for shared bathroom facilities, itchy poly-cotton bedding and shabby interiors.
