The Editory Riverside Hotel, an Historic Hotel

Rooms were good and air conditioning worked well despite the heat outside. Restaurant is good, however limited options. Location of hotel is good and a convenient supermarket below the hotel. Breakfast options of buffet were very good. Staff at restaurant courteous.

Housekeeping in rooms was not efficient. Needed to keep asking them to replenish soaps and other items. Overall, Staff were not warm and friendly.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The rooms were exceptionally clean and offered a beautiful view. The staff were warm, welcoming, and very accommodating. We were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary upgrade to a river-view room, which made our stay even more special. The location is excellent, with most of Lisbon’s attractions within walking distance. Bus stops, the train station, and river cruises are all just a few minutes away, making it incredibly convenient to explore the city. As Muslims, my husband and I especially appreciated that the bathroom was equipped with a shattaf (Muslim shower), a thoughtful feature that made our stay much more comfortable. The hotel is housed in a beautifully preserved historic building, giving you the unique feeling of stepping back into the 19th century while still enjoying modern comfort. We would happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Lisbon.

There were a few areas that could be improved. The breakfast selection was quite limited, with fewer options than we expected from a five-star hotel. The rooms are a bit small, and some amenities typically expected at this level, such as an in-room iron, were not provided. We also noticed a strong chemical smell on the towels, which was not very pleasant. These are relatively minor points, but addressing them would make the overall experience even better.

Very clean, with comfortable beds. Excellent air conditioning that isn’t noisy! Although being within the train station you wouldn’t have known. Slightly downtown so a 15/20 min walk to the square but that didn’t bother me.

Breakfast choice good and omelettes cooked to order delicious. What was hugely frustrating was having to chase staff for cutlery. Then again for mugs for coffee. All SO laborious. For goodness sake- put cutlery and cups/mugs out for guests. It felt like an obstacle getting the things we needed. One morning the coffee machine broke down and it look 20 mins for them to reluctantly put out of order sign up. They need to buck their ideas up sharpish.

Reception staff did minimum. When I asked for suggestions for dining/ they tried to fob me off with a touristy place. It beggared belief that they didn’t suggest Alfama, a delightful old part of Lisbon stuffed with restaurants and a 10 minuite walk away. When I asked why they hadn’t suggested to us/ attitude was “ you didn’t ask”. Very unhelpful. Be proud of your city and advise guests accordingly to enhance their stay.
