Apartament Pla del Roc

Location is 10/10 and the apartment is spacious and comfortable. Kitchen is well equipped and has everything you need. Supermarket is across the road and less than 5 minute walk to the ski resort and gondola, made it all super easy. No on-site parking if you are renting this one but there is free street parking if you're timing it right, worst case you can park at the ski resort gondola station and it's just a 5 minute walk up the road to the apartment.

The only downside for this apartment was the lack of information about finding the actual apartment on arrival. The location for collecting the keys is a good 10 minute drive from the town where the apartment is located. Not hard to find, directions and instructions were good even if a little out of the way. However, it was very difficult to find the apartment on arrival, we had no instructions for how to find the building and there is no signage or naming on the buildings in town. Additionally, we were provided a google maps link for the location of the apartment block, and a physical address which takes you to a different location in town but on the same road. This made it really hard to know which was the right place to be and we spent a good 20 minutes late at night, in the cold, walking around town looking for the right building. Eventually we contacted the properly management team and they quickly helped us out with very clear instructions. I would expect this to be provided in the first place to make it easier for anyone to find the place. There was a lack of information about the apartment, we figured things out but a little info about what to do with ski equipment and check-out process would be super helpful. We had to ask for check-out instructions on the morning of our departure, which was fine but left little time to plan ahead.

Once we found the apartment (see below), the keys were easy to find. It's a lovely big apartment which is in a great location, only a shot walk to the nearest lifts, where there are ski lockers too. It is very well equipped and everything was very comfortable and warm. It's so much better than the poky rabbit hutches you get in the big resorts in the Alps. We had a great time. The mountain cafes and restaurants were great places to lunch and in the evenings we ate out some of the time and cooked at the apartment too. The resort is quiet in the evenings (which might not suit everyone) but it meant we easily got a good night's sleep We would recommend getting the lift pass that includes Masella, because there is lovely skiing over there too. We had empty slopes most of the week and plenty of places to ski - the snowmaking was awesome!

It wasn't easy to find the apartment - the directions given would have been much more helpful if it had said "above Altacerdanya Escola d'Esqui (or "Esqui Club Meganeu"), opposite the Church" because all those are easily visible from the road, but nothing that says Pla del Roc can be seen anywhere! Please note that when we asked local people where it was, nobody else knew either - until we asked for the Ski School. It would have been helpful to have an information pack in the apartment - how things worked, places to eat, where to buy lift passes, where to hire ski equipment, and what was expected when we left: how to turn off the heating, where the rubbish bins are and so on. This would be even better if it could be in more than one language - Catalan, Spanish and English perhaps?
