La Charmeraie : gîte de charme, piscine et spa

Stéphanie la propriétaire est très gentille, accueillante et arrangeante. Son gîte est parfaitement adapté à 12 personnes, on peut manger à 12 autour de la table! Chaque chambre a sa salle de bains, la literie est de très bonne qualité et la cuisine est bien équipée. Nous avons adoré la piscine chauffée, le jacuzzi et le barbecue! Tout était très propre, nous reviendrons avec plaisir.

The property is beautiful. Set in the countryside of the Loire Valley among vineyards it is in a lovely setting. The property is large with beautiful trees including many fruit trees. It has a large pool, trampoline, ping pong, playground equipment, a pond and an interior large jacuzzi. It is located about three minutes outside of the tiny village of Thesée which is between Blois and Tours. The location is great as a base for the Loir Valley as many of the sights are within an hour's drive. Even though Thesée is tiny, there are small villages all within five to ten minutes - so we had easy access to supermarkets and restaurants. Stephanie, the host, was incredibly welcoming, kind and helpful. She even arranged play dates for our children with children from the neighborhood. She was extremely responsive to any and all concerns and great to recommend restaurants. And she brought us wine and goat cheese that were special to the town. A truly fantastic human being! The house is large, comfortable and full of character. It was built in 1830 and has a huge kitchen and dining room. The living room is also very large. There is a huge interior porch with AC that looks out to the pool and holds the huge hot tub. Also, downstairs there is a visitor's toilet and sink. And a large laundry area with a washer and dryer. There are four bedrooms upstairs. Three are above the living room, nicely appointed buy they do not have A/C. There are also two bathrooms and two toilets. Above the laundry area there is a huge room with doble bed, two twins and a child's bed plus a bathroom and toilet. This whole area has AC. We traveled as a family of five adults and three children and also rented the smaller house adjacent which has three bedrooms, two bathrooms and two toilets. The whole house has AC and although substantially smaller it has a nice open kitchen with dining area and living room. The two elders of the group loved it. We spent an idyllic three weeks here.

The upstairs without AC could get hot, especially as we were there in summer and we had a heat wave. We were out in the country so there were birds of many kinds which was great, but we also had bugs of many kinds which wasn't as great. Bug repellent is a good idea. And although we loved the chance to practice our French and although Stephanie does know about as much English as we know French - Google translate was helpful. But the place was magical, and we truly were incredibly sad to leave!
