Exceptionally clean and peaceful , beautiful room overlooking the garden . Madhu and his lovely family made us very comfortable and welcome and had a lot of knowledge to share with us to make our holiday better ,we will be returning one day .

I had an excellent, three-night stay with Madhu and Sanjee during the recent Vesak festival. On arrival I was welcomed with a cold towel and a delicious fruit drink. As many other reviewers have said, Madhu and Sanjee are so helpful and friendly. The room I had was exceptional. Especially for the price point and location. I don’t know how they planned the room so well as its far better than many places that I have stayed. So many thoughtful touches. Decoration is lovely and they also provided tea, coffee, water. The room itself is quite a size so plenty of space for luggage. AC is good and also an overhead fan. The balcony was a delight, especially in the morning and the evening. You’ll probably see monkeys also. The breakfast was excellent and changed each day. Also, a different fruit drink each day. The family have just opened a small shop next door which is helpful if you want cold drinks and snacks. I met Madhu’s mother, sister, daughter. All lovely people. The location is great for the caves and temple. It’s a reasonable walk to town which I did a few times. I’ve been to Dambulla before, and I like this location. As I stayed during Vesak, expect lots of crowds walking to and from the temple and also note that the speeches, prayers and music are generally blasting out all of the day and much of the night. There are speakers all over and it can be difficult to sleep. It comes with the location and happens everywhere where there is a Buddhist temple nearby. At times its pleasant at other times its not necessary and too loud. However, it is what it is. I ate a couple of times at the Black Mustang restaurant. It was fine. Quite basic and reasonable prices. I also ordered a delivery from Pizza Hut which was very good and delivered to the door. Overall, Madhu and Sanjee totally deserve their high rating. The property is like it was opened recently but it’s been open since 2021. They do a fantastic job, and I totally recommend staying here. Well done.

Noise from the Vesak festival.

This was easily one of the most memorable stays of our trip. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine warmth and kindness by the hosts, a wonderful couple who made us feel less like guests and more like family. A special mention goes to Madhu, whose hospitality was truly outstanding. She was available at any time to assist with anything we needed, from arranging transportation to providing valuable local insights and helping us plan our visits to nearby attractions. Her recommendations made our experience in Dambulla much richer and more enjoyable. The location is perfect for travellers seeking a peaceful retreat surrounded by nature. Despite its tranquil setting, the property is only a five-minute walk from the famous Dambulla Cave Temple, making it an excellent base for exploring the area. Waking up to the beautiful natural surroundings and the sounds of nature was a refreshing experience. The rooms were spotless, spacious, comfortable, and exceptionally well maintained. Everything was thoughtfully arranged, creating an atmosphere that was both relaxing and welcoming. The authentic and delicious homemade breakfast was another highlight of our stay and a perfect way to start each day. What impressed us even more was the incredible value for money. The quality of hospitality, comfort, and personal attention we received far exceeded what we have experienced at many high-end hotels. If you are looking for a place that combines authentic Sri Lankan hospitality, a serene environment, excellent location, and outstanding service at an affordable price, look no further. This stay deserves more than a perfect score. If it were possible, I would happily rate it 11/10. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Dambulla.

We absolutely loved our stay at Simoya. We originally stayed here on our way to Jaffna and ended up coming back again on the way back because we felt so comfortable and peaceful here. The owners and their family are some of the kindest and most loving people we met in Sri Lanka, they made us feel like we were at home and part of their family from the very first moment. The property itself is beautiful, surrounded by nature with a huge garden full of peace and tranquility. The rooms were very comfortable and the Wi-Fi was honestly one of the best we had during our entire trip around Sri Lanka. Breakfast was always fresh and delicious. They also helped us organize anything we needed during our stay, even my boyfriend’s birthday. The location is excellent as well, within walking distance of the Dambulla Cave Temple.
