Nyala View, Mabalingwe

We loved everything - but to point out a few highlights....The view - wow!. The heated pool (we were there mid-winter in July and swam every day from 7 to 7!). The beds are out-of-this-world-comfy and the best sleep we've ever had. The outside showers are amazing. The house is very well equipped and big enough for large families without feeling cramped. The whole space is truly breathtaking. Lynette is an exceptional host - quick to answer and arrange additional extras with ease. We had the most amazing family holiday. Nyala View is an extraordinary home, and you easily forget the outside world and are immersed in a South African Bush Bubble that you dont want to get out of. We can't wait to go again.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Truly Exceptional Stay at Nyala Lodge Our stay at Nyala Lodge exceeded every expectation. Although we noticed a few older reviews mentioning maintenance concerns when we booked, it was clear upon arrival that the owners have invested significantly in upgrading the property. The lodge has been beautifully renovated, with a fresh, modern interior, a stunning new deck overlooking breathtaking views, new stairs leading to a lovely boma area, and exceptionally comfortable new beds. The heated pool was a fantastic bonus, allowing us to swim even during the winter, and the backup power system ensured uninterrupted comfort throughout our stay. Every detail reflects the care and effort that has gone into making this lodge a truly special destination. Nyala Lodge offers the perfect blend of luxury, comfort, peace, and spectacular scenery. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable getaway and will certainly be back!

Close to Johannesburg. Lots of accommodation for all. Bedrooms are private, very comfortable beds and pillows, with most having their own bathrooms - and some also had outdoor showers. Enjoyed the open layout of the kitchen and lounge area leading onto the patio - very social gatherings. Beautiful leather sofa in the lounge. Animals graze on the vegetation below the patio, great bird life and enjoyed hiring the game viewing vehicle for 24 hours - self-drive, no rush and we did an mid-morning/afternoon drive and an early morning drive before we left: GREAT experience. So many animals (with some large mammals that we were not expecting) to see and easy dirt roads to navigate in the reserve. Lots of photo opportunities - take your cameras and binoculars. Also take your bird reference book to look up species. Went to Vulture's View restaurant for lunch - good pizza, great service and magnificent views!

Sadly, the unit requires maintenance, which detracts from the overall experience. The wooden deck has screws sticking out and a few broken planks. The jacuzzi did not warm up. The light by the braai area was insufficient. Some of the patio chairs need to be fixed. The appliances, crockery and glasses need to be updated. No hairdryers. Bathroom soaps/shampoo/conditioners - minimal. Would have been nice to have a map of the entire reserve, to make it easier to find restaurants, pubs and main hotel.
