Farndale House-Hot tub

Great location right in the heart of amble , beautiful and spacious , great hot tub and hosts very accommodating with requests for early check in and late check out .

Location is very good. The size of the property is very good. Hot tub was excellent for the children

We stayed as a family of 6 adults and two young children. On arriving on a very cold November afternoon the heating wasn’t on and it was FREEZING. It took ages to get warm as it’s a large property and it wasn’t obvious how the heating worked nor the convection heater., without ages trying to find instructions. There was no welcome pack (which I expected as had seen photos showing one), there wasn’t even a pint of milk! A dishwasher is a must in this size of property, especially given the tiny dish drainer provided. The cleanliness of the property left a lot to be desired!! It was very dusty throughout. There was old dried on urine on the toilet in the main bathroom. One family member had a bath in the main bathroom (which has a very large copper bath). On emptying the bath the water came up through the shower outlet in walk in shower and flooded the entire bathroom! The on-suite bathroom to the master suite on the top floor absolutely stunk of drains when you flushed the toilet or had a shower. There was a big stain on one of the duvet covers. One of the plug sockets in the living room is hanging out of the wall and with young children is a major concern. However the biggest problem was the cooker and hob not working! It had no power to it. On messaging the owner I was told to go around checking all the wall fuses and she said I had to eliminate which appliances were working! She never offered to come round and fix it nor did offer any kind of apology, even though I said an apology would be nice! Her solution (which I had to ask for btw) was that an electrician would call the next afternoon. This was wholly unacceptable as we had planned to cook a meal.

Everything was great, would definitely stay again!

Facilities were excellent. House was extremely spacious and very comfortable, and definitely had the ‘wow’ factor. The location, so close to the harbour was fantastic.

Could have been cleaned better prior to our arrival. Some of the plates / cups etc were unclean and so everything needed washing before use. No shower gels etc that you would normally expect, especially in a property costing £300 per night. The listing suggested free parking was available outside, but you actually only get an hour and then have to move to a car park.

Location was excellent - very central. Property was very comfortable and well equipped.

Location, decor, space, facilities all met and exceeded expectations.

There was nothing to dislike about the property.

Most things! Hard to describe without sounding like an estate agent but it’s a beautiful house - tasteful decor and furnishings, so it looked good and felt comfortable too! Hot tub was great, of course. We didn’t want to leave - so that’s a sign of a fab stay! Location of the house was super too - walking distance of everything we needed and very close to nearby attractions etc. We were a family of four but would absolutely come back with friends or more family etc. and would for sure stay longer if we could.

The parking situation wasn’t great. We knew from the description that it would just be nearby but hadn’t quite anticipated needing to move the car regularly due to the lack of overnight parking in some locations and 1 hr max stays in others. While the property was mostly very clean. We felt there was a certain lack in attention to detail as the cleaning was concerned - sand in the bath (understandable given it’s on the coast but still. Also a couple of the toilets weren’t clean in the gaps at the back between the seats and the back - visible while standing at the loo and wasn’t very pleasant to see. Was also quite dusty in places and we found the floors to be in need of a deeper clean. Our feet, socks, and kids knees were black. We also felt there weren’t many towels provided, especially given the hot tub. Would be great if extras could be provided in a basket or something for hot tub use. Please, please, please don’t worry too much about these points - we really are nitpicking. Nothing here ruined our stay at all we just felt we’d explain the 9 rather than 10 out of 10!
