BUNGALOW El HOUDA

I liked everything; I can't say anything bad. Taxis, the city center, and food are all within easy reach. Peace and quiet, what more could you want? Thank you.

Incredible value for a gorgeous Tunisian Bungalow and the location. Grocery store nearby with everything you need and even local fish/meat/bakery. Beach is walking distance (few minutes and the sand is like none other—finest sand around). Water is a bit cold but very refreshing. Perfect for hot days. Host was extremely nice. Make sure to visit the old city Medina and the Fortress of Hammamet if you like castles.

WiFi didn't reach farthest bedroom, but other than that, no issue whatsoever. There can be lots of traffic on the main road to the food stores, or just walk there if you're shopping for a small bag of food. I would've loved to stay here longer.

For the price, it was great. The owners are welcoming and helpful. The beds and towels very clean. Big, new fridge freezer in the kitchen. The bungalow is traditional and homely in a very pleasant setting, close to the beach and some shops. There is a great cafe a few doors down the road that we went to for breakfast many times. This is ideal for a safe base if you are going to be out and about. The owners speak excellent english and happy to book a taxi or recommend the best restaurants etc. He was very responsive when we asked for assistance.

Overall, the facilities are in need of some upgrades and maintenance. Like they're on their last legs. For instance, the shower riser rail no longer holds, the electric kettle doesn't boil, so I was using a saucepan on the dodgy old gas hob which was covered in foil and occasionally had extra flames from the spilled grease lurking below. No desert bowls, just plates. WiFi signal worked in some areas and the TV was hit and miss. This might have gone unnoticed if we'd been out more, but we were there out of season so would have enjoyed a few cosy evenings or days in relaxing and cooking. Maybe it's just the culture there which is different from the home comfort we're used to. I shouldn't complain at the price.
