Host & Stay - The Old Workhouse

Location and size of the property.

It needs a shower over the bath in the main bathroom.The only shower is in the en-suite bathroom which isn’t adequate if the property is fully occupied.

The property was very comfortable with a lovely mix of traditional interiors and fittings with modern facilities. It was beautifully spacious and we were extremely comfortable for our four nights.

We liked everything though a welcome pint of milk would have gone down well after a 6 hour drive. It would have been helpful to have had more than one key for the group.

Only one shower also bath towels provided but not enough hand towels.

Location was good, once you found it!

1. 1st floor apartment was not described as first floor. We had to get my wheel chair user 92 year old mother up the stairs into the apartment. Totally unacceptable. The booking.com property description must be rewritten. We were not the first to have this problem as neighbours said had happened before. Charlie in the office knew we needed wheelchair access as I asked if these were provided, and it was not mentioned as unsuitable for wheelchair users. 2. Directions were very poor and we spent 30 minutes asking people where it was before we found it. Our wheelchair hire delivery driver from Berwick did most of the asking. Photos show location of apartment off Park View, and X marks 2 car park spaces for number 4, where the key safe is located. The address is not really Wagon Way Road at all, but Park View. There is no sign for the ‘Old Workhouse’ so it’s impossible to find by the current directions. 3. Knife sharpener for the many ‘sharp’ knives would have been very helpful. Oh boy!
