New Gate Hostel

I’ve traveled quite a bit, and this was honestly the nicest hostel I’ve ever stayed in! It’s attached to the beautiful Notre Dame hotel, which seriously looks like a castle. I couldn’t believe what I got for the price! The location is perfect—literally right outside the New Gate to the Old City. As a solo Christian female traveler, feeling safe is really important to me. I had actually stayed at another hostel off Jaffa Street first and just didn’t feel comfortable there. At New Gate Hostel, I felt incredibly safe, especially with the security station right next door. The staff was so friendly and welcoming, and the breakfast was delicious and absolutely worth adding! But what really made this place special for me were the Shroud of Turin exhibit and the incredible Pentecost painting. Those completely put it over the top. 🙏🏻 I would recommend this place in a heartbeat to solo travelers, youth groups, church groups, or anyone wanting to explore Jerusalem on a budget without sacrificing location, comfort, or a sense of safety. They welcome everyone! Such a hidden gem. I’ll definitely be back! ❤️

A bit hard to find the hostel as it is located on the territory of another institution.
