A trip home and a trip back in time wrapped into an immersive Wigtownshire experience.

This was quite literally going home again for me, so I will no doubt show my bias here, but I have always loved the area and this farm is where my family lived and worked ... my brother and I stayed here with our grandparents the weeks before we moved to Canada in the early 1970s. Returning to the Claunch I was struck by how much and how little had changed. The care and attention paid to the new addition to the main farmhouse -- the unit where we stayed -- was excellent and they have created a warm, comforting home that welcomed us like we'd never left. Idyllic location and a perfect jump-off spot for a trip down memory lane. Spacious, immaculate and welcoming.

The only drawback, water pressure in the shower. The rest was ideal.

Cosy, comfortable house with a gorgeous garden

The house was super comfy, the garden area is gorgeous and we had everything we needed for a relaxing girls weekend away. We all really enjoyed the farm setting and the views, and this area of Scotland is truly worth exploring. The host was great too and super responsive. We had a lovely time! :)

the location was great for exploring the south West coast made to feel very welcome from the moment we arrived at the property the house was fantastic it was cleaned and maintained to a very high standard it's peacefully quiet at night and the night skies are great to look when soaking in the hottub

Good location for a quiet time away. Beds were comfortable and facilities for cooking and eating were great. The majority of the property was sparkling clean, and the entire place was tidy and well maintained.

The wet room nearly flooded due to the drain being blocked. As the hosts were unavailable at the time of reporting it to them, we had to unblock it ourselves, by unscrewing the drain and emptying the hair and mould from it, in order for us to wash. Luckily, we had a screwdriver in our car as we'd travelled to the venue straight from work. It was also expected that we emptied the bins and stripped the beds ourselves before we left too. I did this first thing, so as we could spend some time in the hot tub before we checked out, however when we went down to use it, the hosts had emptied it which was disappointing.

This property is stunning and in a gorgeous area of the dark sky park. The hot tub is great and very private. Lynne was a lovely host and we had a great time

Not a negative just a “ be aware” the stairs up to the second bedroom are narrow and very steep so not suitable for everyone

Beautiful place that exceeded our expectations!

This stay was perfect. The location is beautiful, away from the city and busy roads, surrounded by nature. The star gazing from the hot-tub was a unique experience and we even managed to catch Aurora Borealis. The cottage itself is very well equipped with all the essentials for cooking, as well as quite a few kitchen appliances (e.g., microwave, toaster, kettle, hob, oven, fridge/freezer). The bathroom is small but looks recently renovated and very nice. There are no toiletries, but everything else is provided. The beds were really comfortable too and there is private parking right in front of the cottage. The communication with Lynne with brilliant throughout. She was quick to respond and helped us with all our questions and needs during our stay. I wish we could have stayed longer and thank you for everything.

Loved it and will definitely be back

Hot tub was great, in dark sky park so the stars were spectacular. Owners were very friendly and if we had brought the kids they would’ve loved being so close to the farm animals. Self catering facilities had everything you would need.

Bathroom heater kept switching off making the bathroom totally freezing in the morning

Everything about the stay was wonderful .Just what we wanted beautiful cottage and gardens with the added bonus of a hot tub in a very secluded part of the garden would definitely recommend to anyone 👍💞sorry we had to leave but we will definitely be back .

not much really just wish it could have had some Wi-Fi as the phones were very intermittent on our own phone companies sims. house was quite thick so reception was affected.

Really relaxing break away

Lovely and clean very spacious. Decorator lovely. Hosts were lovely and gave you privacy.

Nice furnishings, beautiful scenery

Had to be out the hot tub for 9pm, the whole reason i booked it was so i could enjoy looking at the stars, not aloud to play music, basically not allowed to enjoy yourself after paying what amounts to a whole week of hard grafts wages, to be told what to do, no wifi, tv didnt work, the owner, told me off for playing loud music, (its in the middle of nowhere btw) so i told her to keep the money and left after the first night and went to portpatrick, far better.

Stairs to mezzanine not suitable for younger children! Lack of blinds meant it didn't always feel private and it meant our child woke up very early. Hot tub is only accessible through the home owners garden.

Perfect short getaway in a lovely quiet location.

Nice quiet small farm location. The cottage was lovely open plan with good size rooms and very comfortable and relaxing. Owners were friendly and welcoming and made us feel at home. The cottage is in a very rural location which for us was great, as we enjoy being away from civilisation. Perfect location for a short quiet getaway!

The cottage has no WiFi but this wasn't an issue for us as we like switching off from the real world. However I imagine if you have kids it might be but this isn't really a grumble.

Lovely two day stay

We had a great two day family break,the cottage was spotless and very comfortable, we used the hot tub twice and it was great lying under the stars and secluded,would have used it more if the kids weren't with us. We had a lovely time. Do take some cleaning stuff with you ,washing up liquid and a spray to clean down. Hand gel and toilet roll was provided. We would recommend a stay here and definitely would come back.

No WiFi (kids didn't like that) But good for keeping them off computers and phones.

Fantastic experience

Lovely experience. Hosts were friendly and helpful. Hottub was fabulous and the area it is in is very private and relaxing. The location is great for exploring local towns, beaches and historic buildings. Inside was clean and comfortable - a perfect place to relax and switch off.
