Location for walking, outdoor pursuits. Wonderful friendly staff, excellent food and good value. Cozy room, and lovely breakfast to fuel up for the day. Accommodated for gluten free diet without any drama.

Ideal stop-over for cycling tourists

Amazing location in the Cambrian mountains and a warm welcome after climbing the Machynlleth Mountain Road. Richard was exceptionally friendly and helpful and we also really enjoyed the cosy ambience and food.

An oasis along Glyndwr's Way and a fantastic place to stay.

I was met on arrival by the owner and welcomed into the Inn. He was very personable and I really appreciated his care on my arrival, especially with the offer of a beer. Clean and comfortable room with fantastic views and a lovely front room for meals. Great evening meal and breakfast too. I understand that the place was reopening as a pub again a couple of weeks after my stay in mid July, so I really wish them every success.

Can't recommend enough!

I loved everything about this stay. The owners were super friendly and helpful. The room had a nice view of the hills, was very clean, very comfortable. Bathroom has all main toiletries which although I didn't need them, was perfect if you had forgot anything. Couldn't have asked for better and was such a good price. Was just me and the dog and we loved it. Breakfast was lovely. The location was perfect for me... It's in the middle of nowhere, very scenic and the night sky was incredible. Spent a lot of time just staring out my room window! Would definitely stop again. Also had my tea here and it was really nice and such a good price.

Nothing I didn't like. Honestly an amazing place. I suppose only downfall was lack of phone signal ... But then again, not sure that's a bad thing 😁 (had WiFi so didn't actually matter regardless).

A warm welcome after a long day of hiking and we were very well looked after. Highly recommended!

This is an iconic lone inn set in an area of stunning scenery. It has been recently refurbished and the facilities are excellent with a very warm welcome.

When we stayed, the pub part hadn’t reopened but we were kept supplied with excellent drinks.

To get away from a busy city this location in the heart of the Welsh countryside is ideal!

Cooked breakfast was lovely. Good value for money at £10. Had 2 sausages, 2 eggs, bacon, baked beans, fried tomato, brown toast (white is an option) Coffee, fruit yogurt. There are also cereals available, tea. As an adventure motorcyclist the location was amazing! Welsh hillside with sheep scaling up. I ventured to to the west coast and north near Snowden. Barmouth beach was a lovely looking sandy beach. The views on my routes were just amazing! The ideal hosts! Richard was a star so welcoming and friendly. Even let me store my motorcycle in the garage overnight. Very low crime rate area as hardly anybody around!

Just the bathroom door did not properly close in the door frame in room 2. Just needs some sanding/shaping.

Perfect for getting out into nature and enjoy stunning views

It’s a beautiful old building that’s well decorated and in a stunning location. When I arrived the staff greeted me and were very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was also top notch.

Lovely rooms but strange rattling in the breeze kept me awake

Lovely decor and isolated location. As the sausages and hash browns weren’t gluten free I didn’t opt for breakfast, mushrooms were offered as a substitution for the non GF items. Chilli with rice was available as a GF evening meal for £15 but I’d gone prepared with a pre-packed supermarket salad so can’t comment on the food, wished I’d spotted that evening meals could be bought. Great that bikes could be stored securely.

I was in a room at the front which was lovely but suffered from a rattling noise whenever there was a breeze outside, not sure if it was guttering or some other feature but it was enough to disturb sleep in an otherwise quiet and peaceful location

Fabulous stay whilst hiking Glyndŵr's Way

hiking Glyndŵr's Way and stayed over here as the stop between Llanidloes and Machynlleth. Perfect as it is half way between these two towns and also only half a kilometre off the actual route. Very comfy bed, lots of hot water, great breakfast, great dinner and packed lunch (make sure you book this in advance)... what else does a tired national trail walker want? Nought! These guys were spot on!

Journey in. Roads appalling. Would be better if on website description of best way in. Did mention to host who agreed and would potentially add this information. Tv not working in morning but found there was an app on the tv. My fault for not asking. Not a fan of single bed, but understand why they are there.

A wonderful stop in beautiful area with an excellent host

The host Richard was responsive on the booking.com chat, very helpful in accommodating our bikes, was available passed his preferred hours (it's big hill to cycle up!) and had beers available! The shower was brilliant, beds comfy and all in all exactly what 2 tired cyclists needed. Breakfast was very tasty indeed - 1st class full english!

Just what I needed.

The Host was really friendly and helpful. The bed and pillows were super comfy. Waking up to sunshine and hillside was amazing. Everything I asked for. Also excellent if you are on a motorcycle the owner let me store behind the gates but didn’t really need to as it was a safe location.
