Great two days in a fabulous home.

This was an amazing stay . Victoria is a brilliant hostess and chef. We were treated with such kindness and warmth that we felt totally at home almost immediately. We took advantage of Vic’s talents and hade a fabulous Italian meal on both nights of our stay. We have travelled extensively both home and abroad but this stay was unique and quite simply fabulous.

A delightful stay in a historic building, with a delicious breakfast each morning

We had a very comfortable stay at the Old Thatch. The building itself is incredibly beautiful, and all the facilities were clean and well-maintained. Our host provided an awesome breakfast each morning.

Beware those with large vehicles- the quaint country roads leading to the property were a bit hairy at times, and parking was challenging. Best navigated with a small car! But everything related specifically to the stay and property was delightful.

Utterly divine!

It was uniquely charming. The host Victoria is the most wonderful host her culinary skills are exemplary. I think it was the best mushroom risotto I’ve ever had. The breakfast was equally superb.

Our electric car broke down and mini took 22 hours to recover it and provide a replacement. Victoria bent over backwards to support us , let us use her facilities way after check out, drive us to an appointment and also to get a hire car. After getting to know her so well from unforeseen circumstances we are hoping she will cater for our wedding!!!!

We spent our entire stay wondering how we got so lucky as to have stumbled across this most golden of places to stay!

Literally everything. It’s not a hotel, it’s not an Airbnb, it’s just … magical. Like going home to family, but just so happens that your family has great taste, a wonderful home, and is an extraordinary chef.

A nice time to remember.

The old thatch house and its decor, the charming , helpful hostess Vic and her dogs, the comfortable bed, the nice breakfast, the local friendly people, the location to both Dartmoor and the coast.

Nothing dislike. Just want to remind people who drive big cars, prepare yourself to avoid some very narrow roads, unless you’re very skilled at driving narrow country roads.

Breakfast was delicious. Location beautiful with idyllic views. Kind and considerate host.

It would have been nice to have an en-suite room, but as we were travelling with our dog, he was our main priority. The enclosed garden was perfect for him.

you’re welcomed into the sweetest thatched cottage with a gorgeous garden and a beautiful view. Vic and Fab are both wonderful hosts and so helpful with any questions or requests, even welcoming our puppy scampering about the place! it was a really enjoyable stay and our only regret was that we couldn’t stay longer!

Truly exceptional...!

Everything! The place was truly unique and exceptional. We loved the lounge with real fire place, the decor(loved your eclectic "east meets west" style), the bathroom with a big tub, the cosy bedroom... Victoria was a super host/chef/entertainer/photographer/great conversationalist and many more. She was impeccable and relaxed at the same time- a rare combination :) And the food...oh my god. It was authentic, wholesome and exquisite, one of the best Italian food I've had outside Italy( and I've lived in Italy- so I know what's good!). Truely exceptional!

Everything. Our host Vicky made us feel so welcome and at home immediately. A quirky old house, with an abundance of features. Food (breakfast) exceptional, local quality ingredients, the best black pudding we have ever had. Comfortable bedroom, with lots of special touches. Would we recommend 100%

If you were staying there, when the 2nd room is occupied (only two rooms), you have to share the bathroom . This wasn't a concern for us as we were Vicki's only guests. Lovely bathroom though..

Unique and memorable!

Apologies for the late review! My partner and I really enjoyed our stay here and we felt extremely welcomed and accommodated for! The house is beautiful and unique and I would highly recommend having the homemade dinner, it was excellent! Thanks again for a memorable first night away for me and my partner! Highly recommended and be sure to spend time with the hosts, such interesting people!

Best Holiday EVER

Vic and Fabrizio’s warm welcome made us feel like family rather than guests. The Old Thatch is simply gorgeous and the food was prepared with such skill and love, presented beautifully and tasted devine. we will most definitely return. we were made to feel welcome from the glass of prosecco on arrival to the escorting to car with umberella on leaving. we had the 2 course meal, which was cooked from scratch and was amazing. Theres a local pub a few mins walk away we visited while meal being prepared. breakfast was another big plus, not a planned time, just cooked after we got up. if in area again will be returning

Quel endroit ! Confortable, agréable, cosy. Très bien situé, aux portes du Dartmoor... Et puis, il y a la pétillante Victoria qui vous réserve un accueil extraordinaire et qui cuisine à merveille. Les petits déjeuners sont somptueux. Bref, un superbe séjour, pour ceux qui n’ont pas peur de circuler sur les routes étroites du Devon.
