Kuxtal Hotel Boutique

Excellent location, just a 10-minute walk from the cathedral. The staff are genuinely lovely and really care about making their guests feel comfortable. As it is a small hotel with only a few rooms, they know every guest and always take the time for a friendly chat, which creates a very personal atmosphere. The pool is absolutely wonderful after a day of sightseeing or on a hot afternoon. We used it every day and somehow always had it completely to ourselves, so it felt like having a private pool. Breakfast is simple but delicious and quite special: rather than a standard hotel breakfast, it feels like a little tasting menu of Mexican dishes, with something different to discover.

We stayed in the AIRE room. The part of the room facing the pool is quiet, but unfortunately the bedroom faces the courtyard on the street side and can be quite noisy. The hotel is located on a main road with buses and regular traffic. During our stay, we also had some exceptionally bad luck: the city was resurfacing the road directly in front of the hotel, with jackhammers and heavy machinery working from around 10 p.m. at night. Our first morning very early, there was also loud music coming from a neighbouring property. Obviously, these external sources of noise were beyond the hotel's control, but for us the situation was extremely difficult and after the first night we seriously considered moving to another hotel. What made the difference was the way the management handled the situation. They were exceptionally fair, understanding and helpful, and we liked the hotel itself enough that we ultimately decided to stay. Two practical things to know if you book the AIRE room: if you are sensitive to noise, definitely bring earplugs. Also, the “kitchen” is really more of a kitchenette counter than an actual kitchen. It is convenient for takeaway food, snacks or drinks, but it is not equipped for cooking or preparing regular meals.

Le faltan algunas amenidades propias de un hotel boutique, hielo potable por ejemplo, la comida no es mala pero se siente como desayuno de VIPS para estar en Mérida como que no está a nivel.
