Breb 148 Local Food&Garden, Guesthouse

Breb, with its ancient wooden architecture and traditional way of life, is known for being one of the best preserved villages in northern Maramures, and right so, but it is still very much a living place and definitely worth spending some time in. Breb 148, is situated at the end of a lane, and comprises two cottages and an excellent restaurant, separated by a flower meadow which in early August while we were staying was given its second cutting, the farmers making one of their distinctive standing bales right in front of us as we were eating dinner. Our cottage, Sura, was beautifully decorated in authentic style, but also very comfortable, with good showers and well equipped kitchen. Irina, the host, is wonderful - warm and attentive in just the right way. She told us about a lake ten mins' drive away for local swimming, where to find the best churches (not always straightforward on googlemaps which directs you to the middle of nowhere) and where to go for textile shopping in the village. I can't recommend this place highly enough. It is so gentle and peaceful and nourishing. And stays with you long after you leave.

Amazing house with amazing hosts. Very traditional but very modern and comfortable at the same time.

A cozy, rustic and intentionally slow pace stay - with real authentic and genuinely kind people - humble curiosity is rewarded by the village as a whole.

A cooking hob and / or if you plan to stay more than a day or two - a laundry machine would be an added value.
