Solway Firth View

Location was great, right on the beach, lovely garden, great location for getting out and about. Loads of walks, dogs loved it. Weather was exceptional, only had one day of light rain at beginning of week. Lovely, quiet place. Great layout of building, having 2 showers was really handy for the 4 of us.. Loved it.....although there were a few negatives......

..... Back bedroom, through lounge appears to smell very damp. Problem with boiler on first morning, no hot water. Contacted Sykes, but no response from them all week! Managed to contact Gillian, who tried to talk me through resetting boiler, but to no avail. Finally managed to sort it out myself later that day. Sink plug in small shower room wouldn't go down, so couldn't fill sink. Small shower runner on bottom, had black mould sitting in it. Sofas were uncomfortable, sagging at the back. Beds in twin room were comfortable, although back bedroom double bed not as much. TV had a stripe in the middle, running top to bottom, although watchable, was distracting at times. Would rent again and would be better, hopefully if little niggles were sorted.. Enjoyable stay otherwise!

Lovely location if you wanted to be quiet but near the coast. The property is very spacious and has many nice touches. There were games and jigsaws and a generous welcome pack. We had lovely hot weather so the garden shade was wonderful.

I had not realised the kitchen was so small. We were self catering and there was very little space to store anything other than in the fridge. We struggled to get a phone signal.

Perfect hideaway for coastal walks and exploring the scenic surroundings. A well equipped cottage which made our stay feel more enjoyable as we could have good home cooked food and give our clothes a freshen up after some splashing in the puddles. 2 shower rooms made it perfect for us all getting cleaned up in quick succession. Really quiet and peaceful although this is the middle of Feb! I would be interested to see how it is in summer time. Fantastic welcome box which we all thoroughly enjoyed on our family valentine's night. Great personal touches on the towels made the stay feel like we were in a luxury hotel. We loved how much detail and effort the owners had gone to in their welcome pack, the history of the area, and tips for walks and exploring.

There was a strong smell of damp in the living room area, I appreciate it is winter and a coastal location this is a difficult thing to avoid but maybe a few air fresheners around would have helped. One of the mattresses in the twin room is extremely uncomfortable.

The location was brilliant with plenty of coastal walks on the doorstep.
