Great 4 bed house in Black Country

There were 5 of us in our family and it was great to all have the use of our own bathroom . Kitchen was well stocked with cleaning supplies and cooking equipment . Linen and towels supplied also plenty of toilet rolls . Good location walking distance to Black Country museum and Dudley Canal .

I know that this isn’t the owners fault but some of the kitchen equipment needed washing before using . When we first arrived house was a little musty smelling but probably just because house had been empty .

The house is welcoming but it would need a deep cleaning (the carpet, spiders' webs on the windows of the attic chambers, the walls).

On the whole, it's a wonderful stay. However, the showers are a bit small. Some water taps are too tight to turn off completely.

The beds were very comfortable, the internet was fast enough for several users. Parking was ample.

On arrival the whole place was very unclean and we had to clean the house from top to bottom. The skirting board tops were absolutely filthy and everywhere covered in a thick layer of dust. None of the carpets fitted to the skirting board and in places, the carpet grips were exposed which is dangerous. One part even had gaffer tape holding the carpet down. No curtains in any of the rooms just blinds, hence let in the light early in the morning. The kitchen was in a very poor state of cleanliness and everything had to be totally cleansed before use and was very ill-equipped. For example 1 wine glass between 8 of us! There were, however, 3 potato mashes but no potato peeler. Not enough cups and mugs for everyone to have a drink. The bin lid did not close either. In the lounge/diner, there were not enough seats for everyone to sit on in the evening and the dining table was too small and did not have sufficient chairs for everyone to sit at it. One of the toilets was very badly cracked resulting in it being very unhygienic and the shower tray was extremely damaged with sharp, dangerous edges. We called the host who attended and stated that he had had complaints about a lot of the things we highlighted but expressed concern that it would cost him a lot of money to put right. The host needs to consider a deep clean and a program of urgent repairs. We did feel that very little effort had been attributed to the property and that a lot of these issues need attention before it is advertised. After consultation with the host he agreed to refund the cleaning fee, which is only right as we had to clean the who place on arrival and left it is a far better state when we left than it was in when we arrived.
