"It had everything you needed and friendly staff, the room was clean and in a good location for a base to explore, we only stayed 1 night as it was a pit stop for us but perfect"

Great staff - very helpful, pub is very lively and fun . The manager even came to collect us from Hartland Quay

Stayed here while on the SWCP. Very comfortable rooms, great breakfast, very nice dinner. But what makes this place is the community spirit - so refreshing to see something going on most nights, the staff are simply brilliant, the drinks selection great. Will be going back again next spring when we begin our next stage of the walk.

We've stayed at the Anchor Inn before and it's a very nice place to stay when you're doing the Coast Path. This time we had two nights here. There's a rambling arrangement of bars and a large newish dining room with a big sunny terrace facing south. The newish rooms are comfortable and on the large side, and both times we've stayed there, sunny with views straight across the valley to fields and trees. Food is good tending to pub classics: my steak one night was excellent, and the fish & chips the other night really exceptional (fresh fish makes a real difference!). The two women running the place are lovely and go out of their way to make you feel at home. Hartland has two shops and three pubs and a social club, and the 319 bus gives a direct link to Barnstaple Station. We'll be back again!
Nothing.

Location was great and the staff were nice
Breakfast, bacon and sausage were overcooked (nearly burnt) on Saturday. On Sunday the poached egg was inedible. Bedside lamp did not work (staff informed on leaving). Despite the curtains having blackout linings, the sun shone through the window from 6:30 and I had to sleep facing the wall with the duvet over my head. A blackout blind in the window recess would stop this. Nearly all the staff were really nice and friendly.
