generally, my stay at Room Pauli was nice

i did not expect breakfast because I was already aware it was just a hostel but the location was weird at first but found to be pleasant later.

the bed and bath/shower place being so small, otherwise it was clean and hot shower was so nice and assuring

I expected nightlife noise, not a room vibrating like a nightclub — impossible to rest

It’s fine that the area has parties — I expected some noise in St. Pauli. However, the problem here is much more serious: inside the room, the noise reached almost 60 dB after 22:00, which by German law and noise-protection standards (TA Lärm, Nachtruhe) is not allowed. The music and bass from the club below were so loud that the bed and walls were vibrating, making it impossible to sleep or rest. This is completely unacceptable for a hotel room. I contacted Booking.com several times asking for help, never got a solution. It’s simply not a place where you can sleep — and that makes the accommodation unfit for its purpose.

Very nice place in a good location for reasonable price.

Very convenient location in the middle of St Pauli. Easy to get it and good contact with the host, had no problems with checking in. The idea of themed rooms is great- I got Dark Simpsons :D The premise was clean, there was small kitchenette with basic stuff, a fan (handy in the summer), extra bed linen and enough electric sockets. I had shower in my room, but toilet was outside- also very clean.

You are in the middle of party square, so- there is noise,as there are plenty of pubs and bars ans discos around. Don't forget earplugs, otherwise you won't be able to sleep. Saturday night was extreme, but Sunday night was very quiet. I'd assume weekdays are much queirter, but if you're staying during the weekend- be prepared.

It is a great little hostel, ok the rooms are small but for Hamburg it is a great place to stay. Maybe not for families but with the location that is expected

So, I booked a so called "room with private bathroom", not thinking that I should check if there was actually a private bathroom in the room. My mistake, because what they mean with private bathroom is just a shower, nothing else. Taking into account that they had 2 types of single rooms, one just with shower one with bathroom, I assumed that mine "with private bathroom" would have has a bathroom. But it was a scam! The place is an horror, I was expecting noise, but the level is just unbearable. Your bed is shaking due to the level of noise, and it goes until 4 am at least. Then you have the other guests, mostly already starting drinking, that do not care about the others. There is nobody on site, and they are so slow in taking action that actually there is no one moment in the 24 hours of the day that you have a decent level of noise. Of course the "action" taken by the managers is to call and ask the guests to respect the rules. You can imagine that they absolutely didn't care and when back at the place they started all over again, like nothing. So, really, stay away from this place.

Cool place.

Location, Price, cleanliness, staff ready to help in case of any issue occurring. The location is one of the most vibrant in Germany so not ideal for people looking for peace and quiet place.

This place is as described. It was clean and I had no issues. It was loud at night but they do warn you about this so it wasn't a surprise.

It is a shame the toilets are shared and the room decor is a bit strange.

Impossible to sleep—too noisy.

Absolutely impossible to sleep. Noisy to an extent that it felt like being in a disco club. Couldn’t sleep until 4am. The reason is that the room shared walls with, indeed, a club.

worst stay ever

It was my worst stay ever. There was SO much noice around and also there is a club under the building. because of that, I can feel the vibration of the sound. there were like around 10 clubs nearby. Also they played a word trick. when booking the room, it was written that the room has private bathroom. however not private toilet 🥲 I have never seen a place like that before. what is the logic of this? also there was bo shampoo so I could not take a shower. thanks for the worst night ı have ever experienced.

Pretty good value for money.

The room was clean and had all the cooking equipment needed. Having a private shower was really good. Easy check in and check out from the room. Was given very detailed messages about how to access the room

The location is the only downfall. It was very loud throughout the night. Especially for the heavy bass songs.

Noise incompatible with life

The room is tiny, but it has everything you need. It is surprisingly well-stocked. Convenient and clear access system. Very clean.

It was a huge mistake not to read the reviews, but just to look at the rate. Every other one said that it was incredibly noisy. The hotel also warns about it, but unfortunately, _after_ a non-refundable fee. Okay, I thought, I'll take my earplugs. No earplugs can help. There is a very noisy bar right in the building. The music at night makes the walls vibrate and the lamp bounces on the nightstand. Didn't sleep at all. I left the hotel at 8 am with a splitting headache (the music was still playing) and never went back, despite the prepaid next night. I would give it a rating of 1, but I see that the owners created this place with love and tried to make it as comfortable as possible. But I can't imagine how drunk a person has to be to be able to sleep here.

In the heart of Reeperbahn

The room was nice and quite complete. The toilet was clean and quite free. The self check-in and check-out was quite convenient. The location is great, in the heart of Reeperbahn.

The shower inside of the room was a bit awkward, but it ended up working fine. The room had a strong marijuana smell, that only went away after hours with the windows open. My room was quite noisy as there's a pub just in front of the window.

The bed was comfortable. The location is very central ( without sound isolation).

Sleeping in this hotel is not possible before 6am and even then it is challenging. The location is very central and it is in the party district, I expected some noise but this was completely horrible experience. There is basically no sound isolation. What is out there is also in the room. The room description was very confusing, as it said 'Double Room with Private Bathroom' however there was no toilet in the room.

Not shower gel maybe, but at least I was expecting to find hand soap in the room :( Hostel is surrounded by pubs and clubs, if you want to sleep you should consider that the party and music continues until morning literally..

Offers what it says on the tin very well.

The room was very clean, small but well-equipped. Everything was nicely fitted with good quality furnishings. The toilet was shared but clean and used respectfully by other guests. The bed was very comfy. The instructions for access were very clear and check in was easy. When I was slightly late checking out, the cleaner was very patient, accomodating and kind.

The doorway is not the easiest to spot from out on the street. My room was directly opposite an Irish pub, where music was playing and people were having fun fairly late into the night. However, I can't complain about this as there was plenty of warning from Room Pauli not to expect a quiet stay. It seems that smoking is allowed in rooms (with windows open) which I found quite strange, but the room did not smell smoky, so that was fine.
