Absolutely never booking again!

Honestly, we were expecting a lot from this property, but we had such an awful experience, it was a weekend that was supposed to be enjoyable for my Family but we had a lot of stress during our stay, but if you arent so picky with finding a stay thats worth £££ then this is could do for you, still would not recommend for family travelling with elderly, infants, children id suggest maybe a group of young adults or your group of friends this place would be great. I liked that it wasnt too far from the town. Jacuzzi would have been a + but we werent even able to use it as it was not cleaned before our check in :D

So here is the worst of all. As soon as we arrived, two boxes full of rubbish as well as a foul smell coming from the bins that was attracting a lot of flies, wasnt really an issue but it just became a (+) of the many awful things about the place. Upon entering, the place looked clean from a distance but later on we found cans still in the garden, furnitures and shelves were full of dust, hence why I would not suggest this place for families who are bringing along children, I get that the place is old but a bit of housekeeping really wouldnt hurt to keep this place clean. We didnt mind that the place was left dirty, because we really just wanted to enjoy our first time travelling to Ilfracombe, we travelled all the way from London for a first time experience but I would never book again with this place. We arent picky with our homes but we would have appreciated a bit of help and good hospitality from the staff, you gave us full of contact numbers for both within working hours and “out of hours” but no body would pick up or even reply to our texts when we needed help. A bunch of useless replies that offered us nothing but a “you deal with it yourselves” kind of thing. I was really disappointed, We really booked this place for the Jacuzzi too, but when we got there to take a look at the Jacuzzi, the water was murky, and looked as if it had just been used. You would notice what clean and unclean is as you can tell from the water and the smell. DO NOT PAY FOR THE JACUZZI IN ADVANCE WITHOUT DISCUSSING HOW YOU USE IT OR IF ITS BEEN CLEANED BEFORE YOU CHECK IN BECAUSE THEY WILL LEAVE YOU STRANDED. They will tell you theres an additional payment for the Jacuzzi. And you would need to pay £95 or even more to use it, you need to pay for this in advance as well.

Great stay, good for relaxing or sightseeing.

Detailed entry instructions received with combination, could not have been any easier. Plenty of information received in advance. House was clean, tidy and very well equipped, had everything that we needed (see below). Hot tub was a bonus and was well used, it was clean and ready to use on arrival. Bed linen and towels (see below) were provided, along with plenty of various games in the cupboards to use.

It is not that we didn't like anything, but could I suggest mentioning in the description for the property that no tea towels will be provided, bring your own. It highlighted bed linen and towels were provided, so we (wrongly) assumed this included tea towels. We abided by the rules for the pets, after reading the notice left for us, saying no pets upstairs, on furniture or beds. The gate at the bottom of the stairs could have been better, with it being flimsy the dogs did try to get underneath. It would have been better to have known in advance that dogs were not allowed upstairs, rather than finding out on arrival. I understand no pets on the furniture or beds, which is not an issue, but our dog sleeps in a crate, so being two floors down was rather an inconvenience.

Unsafe, Unloved & Unprofessional

The location.

This house could be brilliant. Yet sadly it is part of a large chain, is overlooked and need some care and attention. Paid for early check-in (extra £20) turned up house wasn't ready, the cleaners were still in, took another 90 minutes. Day 1, couldn't use the hot tub as it was cold following the clean, said this is in the terms, and it would be warm enough by the evening. To points of note, this isn't mentioned in the terms and it wasn't warm enough. You try a 29°C 'hot' tub. We had a mouse in our bedroom, a bedroom which interestingly has no door handle. Unrelated issues I imagine. We had water pouring through the kitchen ceiling because of a plumbing issue. (Apparently it happened last month too) Stairgate unsafe and unconnected from the wall. TV remote with no battery cover on. An unlocked cupboard with no floorboards in (great for our two year old). Hot tub lid damaged so bits float in the tub... Lovely. Tumble dryer filter full on arrival. Washing machine bearings are gone and sounds like a plane is taking off. Decor generally tired. Lots of reviews mention issues from prior months, none of which have been rectified. Tried to contact the company and go through booking.com to rectify the above issue rather than leaving a review. Sadly all these issues were worth a 10% refund... So so sad when you pay all that money for a house that 'looks' nice and this is what you get. After care and compensation laughable. Disappointed Booking.com didn't do more too. Would I come back here... No. Would I recommend it... No. Am I fairly easy going and often think people's reviews are ridiculous... Yes. Have other people exaggerated there reviews... No. Would I cancel my booking and choose something else for a much better experience... Yes.

We enjoyed out stay a lot

Location was great, house looks better in real life than in the photos. Kitchen equipment was excellent, we had everything we needed. Hot tub was huge and ready to use for us upon arrival. Bedrooms standards is 50/50 some of the rooms are really nice while others pretty basic.

More towels would be nice as there was one tiny towel per person, and while using a hot tub, it would be nice to have plenty! Also I think that checking in at 5pm and check out af 10am and charging £20 for changing it by an hour is diabolical.

Nice house, close to the beaches and good facilities.

There was quite a lot of rubbish outside the front of the house on arrival but was dealt with once we were in. There was a problem with the hot tub being dirty but after contacting the hot tub maintenance guy this was sorted the next day so all good after that. Could do with more wardrobe / drawer space in all rooms as there was not enough space for clothes

Spacious property, well equipped. Felt comfortable. Great hot tub.

A LOT of rubbish was outside when we arrived - so much so that we were unable to recycle, struggled to put our rubbish out. No hairdryer. Oven was dirty / smoked the house out. Hot tub was large and great however lid was old - bits of it falling into the water; and access to /from hot tub was V slippery. A surface clean had taking place, but some areas now in need of a 'deep' clean.

Lovely family accommodation at the seaside

We had a wonderful stay. The property is spacious and catered well for our large family group. The hosts are welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. The location is great and close enough to walk to the beach and harbour. Perfect accommodation for families. The hot tub and house were spotlessly clean and very well serviced.

We found the hot tub tricky to get to the right temperature but it was great to have one available to use. The house is up a steep hill from Ilfracombe Town but there's parking available in town if walking isn't an option.

Lovely stay, would visit again

Great location in a lovely quiet street in Ilfracombe. Easy check-in using lock box. Beautiful house with plenty of space, there was also a PlayStation with some games and a few jigsaw puzzles, but we didn't use these. Sky TV (bear in mind you have to switch the box itself on, the controller won't work otherwise). Clean, and we enjoyed the hot tub! Can recommend The Wellington pub (5 min walk).

The back door doesn't close unless it's locked, so we used a shoe to prop it closed while we were in the garden. Some instructions for the hot tub would be useful for us tech luddites, and it does take a long time to heat up. Keep an eye on food outside, because we had a nosey seagull. No other issues :)

Lovely house . Very comfortable

The hot tub wasn't turned on when we got there so we couldn't use it as we'd planned for my Mum's 70th birthday. It took most of our stay for it to warm up which was a shame as we chose this house for its hot tub. Also the house wasn't very clean, the bins were full and there was nowhere to put the recycling. Sadly we were offered no token gesture of compensation which left us with a slightly negative feeling about the weekend.

Lovely big home, the children loved it, close to the beach. Nice, clean, well maintained house, with so much space for a large family, just perfect for our requirements. Games and entertainment for the children provided also. Illfracombe is beautiful

Nice rainy, windy week!

Great, well equipped house just a short walk from Ilfracombe town centre. Very clean bathroom and kitchen. Nice hot tub. Cute log burner in living room. Plenty of space.

The top bedroom had not been vacuumed, there was quite large pieces of debris on the floor and under the bed was quite dirty. The same under the sofa, it had not been done for a long time! There was a lot of dirt, toys and even a little money! The lint trap in the drier was full of sand. The smaller living room smelled unpleasant. One of the beds is held up with concrete blocks. Under the stairs needs finishing. The information in the booklet and on the wall for the hot tub was out of date so not a lot of use.

Welcoming homely spacious house

very spacious, clean, lovely kitchen, bathroom and views from top bedroom were beautiful. Very welcoming property management team and helpful

Heating not working in both living rooms downstairs and is winter so cold. But Tom the property manager tried to kindly get an urgent plumber out and provided an electric heater. Sadly not fixed by the time we left. Living rooms and hall had cracked paint and looked tired, but I am guessing for a family with kids being untidy, might welcome a place not finished to high spec.

Comfortable home nosey nieghbour

We didn't have to take anything but clothes food and drink. The property was only a short walk to the centre. The beds were very comfortable.

The underfloor heating in the kitchen/diner was not working which made it very cold as there were no heaters in those rooms. The light outside was not working, it was very dark early as it is November so couldn't see anything outside. The neighbour was also very nosey, we weren't loud and we came in from the hottub early. Yet when going outside for a cigarette the neighbour would shine a torch over making us feel very uncomfortable. I think the check in and check out times are abit kate and early. We only had one full day there so paid alot for one day.
