Valley Lodge

Location was good as we were visiting family who live in the area

We thought the Lodge it's self needed freshening up there was a slight dampness about the bedrooms also there was no lighting immediately outside the Lodge making the steps leading to the front door of the lodge a trip hazard the pool area on the complex wasn't really up to scratch

Comfortable stay

Location is nice and peaceful, upstairs is spacious and comfortable. Kitchen well equipped. Out door seating Areas comfortably furnished

The lodge had a distinctly damp odour to on the first night. Fortunately leaving the heating on for an hour and all the windows open the following day seemed to rectify the problem otherwise I’m not sure I would kf been comfortable staying. The drains also smell when the tap is first run in the kitchen. The lodge is comfortable and was clean and well equipped but in order tk be a truly great stay it could do with a little updating and freshen up. The same could be said for the entire site though to be fair. We DID have a lovely stay and I definitely wouldn’t be out of booking here but I do think a few simple tweaks would take it from good to great

Very disappointed and making contact is very difficult

Location was lovely

We had quite a few issues with the property, we made phone calls to the owner and cleaning company but nothing was sorted . Very disappointed as Im still waiting for contact details to send a letter or email . My parents paid alot of money for our stay as it was my 50th birthday and my daughter's 21st. Not value for money 😔

Bed comfortable. Warm and clean. The Manorhouse has bar and food and good atmosphere. Key safe easy. Plenty cleaning stuff for kitchen.

Finding Dart Lodge in the dark at 5pm a little difficult as it's a large site and one way system and steep. Pool adequate and clean. Just very old..Used it once. Staff friendly. No obvious recycling on leaving...just general waste bins.

Would not stay again

Cheap, in a nice area and the pub and swimming pool on site are decent.

First impression of the lodge was poor - the balcony furniture clearly hadn’t been cleaned in a long time and was absolutely covered in cobwebs 😐 Considering you can’t check in until 4pm and check out is at 10am, 6 hours should be long enough for a deep clean and to clear up the cobwebs from outside! The property itself is extremely dated and in need of a serious makeover. Black mould in the bathrooms. The bedsheets in the bedrooms felt really damp and that really needs sorting, there must be a damp issue downstairs. There was no soap, tea bags, coffee or sugar in the property - to the owner’s credit, when we called them they did come round in about half an hour and provide these things, after they reminded us that it was self catering (soap at the least should be provided as standard surely?!). Oh and the sofas smelt of wee - I’m assuming because it’s dog friendly it was from a dog, but it absolutely stunk. It may have been the cushions which I immediately removed and seemed to make the smell lessen a bit, but it was really off putting. Please just clean the property properly or buy new furniture!!! Also upstairs is beyond creaky, so if one person is awake, then the whole house is awake.

Lovely, comfortable lodge, but owner may want to take a bit more interest in it

Very comfortable 3-bedroom and 2-bathroom accommodation. Main bed was very large and comfy, with en-suite facilities. The lounge had very comfortable sofas, and it was spacious. The kitchen area was good with most things available. The holiday park was quiet and our dog had a lovely time.

The lodge had not been occupied before us, so on arrival it was 9c inside and the heating didn't work. However, a maintenance man came fairly quickly and turned out someone had turned off the fuse to the heating system. Would have been nice if someone had checked this beforehand and put on the heating in the afternoon for our arrival. Also, the heating system is manual and can only be set for a maximum of 3 hours. This means you have to get up in the morning to put it on otherwise it's very cold inside, especially in March. The other problem was with the main shower. For some reason the fuse tripped after every use of the shower, and despite an electrician coming out, the problem remained all week, and no doubt is still there. The owner never bothered to check with us if it was working properly after the electrician had been. And finally, there is no washing machine, which would have been useful after our many muddy walks.
