Ferme Walila is an old farmhouse once owned by a French minister and set in rural surroundings complete with chickens, cats and a plenitude of peacocks. The room was comfortable and quirkily furnished.and there was a table and chairs for eating outside. Delightful Khadja’s brother is a chef, who used to work in Holland before returning to Meknes, and dinner in the evenings was extremely good. A huge asset is that it is situated within walking distance of the Roman ruins of Volubilis - a must visit site. Arriving there at 9.00 in the morning, we almost had the whole place to ourselves… leaving about three hours later, we found a mass of tour buses arriving, presumably from Fes. This also gives you time for a visit to nearby Moulay Idriss in the afternoon.
There may have been wifi, but it wasn’t evident. And it would be good to have a sign up on the road as it wasn’t obvious. (Coming from the Moulay Idriss direction, if you get to the lower entrance to Volubilis, you have passed it.)

Quiet and welcoming with a super hot bath. If you are offered dinner, accept - it was an extraordinary 5 course meal which I believe at the end of our 3 week stay in Morocco will still be considered the best.

We loved staying at the farm! It is right down the road from Volubilis, so we could walk there each day. Khadija is so kind. The farm is lovely! We were served breakfast on the veranda, where we could watch the peacocks. The farm has a unique atmosphere of peace and beauty. So wonderful to wake up to, and to come home to each evening. Extra special super plus: the five star chef who is the owner, who offers a five course gourmet meal for dinner. Each course was remarkable (though I have to give a shout-out to the soup!), but never too much. It made our stay more than wonderful! (I read a review that said the dinners were expensive. $40 (USA) for both of us, for five courses, was astonishingly reasonable.) Breakfast is also delicious! From the farm!

This was a charming fairytale location to stay. We loved all of the animals, plants and trees. There was water rushing right by the property, and it was so serene to listen to the giant reeds rustling in the wind while the water whooshed by. It also took us only five minutes to walk to Volubilis where we easily spent half the day.
Nothing negative to say
