It is in a quiet garden setting, and each room has a hammock so you can relax there. The staff are very welcoming and helped me book some trips and a massage during my time on the island. The afternoon tea is a nice treat
It’s up the hill and part of the street is a bit dark, especially if there is a power cut, though i still felt safe

The staff were really friendly and the inn felt very private and secluded while being really close to the beach and restaurants. Good breakfast spread. They organised a tour to the Paradise Islands while we were there so that was really handy.
You have to climb uphill to get to the inn which is difficult with luggage especially as its not a smooth surface. I ended up breaking my luggage wheel on the way down.

It was beautiful, very close to the center but far enough to seems like a secret gateway

Bea and Sergio were wonderful hosts: warm, helpful and friendly. The family-run Aratinga Inn feels like a home from home. The peaceful location was a welcome walk away from the bustle of the town. Lush gardens at the entrance gave way to charming and comfortable accommodation with a much needed patio for drying clothes after long hikes and swims. And the breakfasts and afternoon treats were delicious! Thank you for a wonderful and memorable stay. Looking forward to my next visit. :)

It’s immersed in the green, felt like a little oasis away from the business of the town. The greenery, the sounds of nature, the monkeys playing on our roof! AMAZING!

Lovely peaceful setting. Especially liked the afternoon tea and the hammock.

From the moment we reached out before our arrival, the communication with the property was prompt and helpful, setting a positive tone for our stay. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed in English by Antonia at reception, which made the check-in process smooth and stress-free.
One of the highlights was the delightful breakfast and afternoon tea included with our stay. Natalia’s homemade cakes were a daily treat—fresh, delicious, and clearly made with care.
Throughout our visit, the staff consistently went above and beyond. They were attentive, responsive, and always eager to assist with any questions or requests. Their hospitality truly enhanced our experience.
Nothing that affected our comfort during the stay. If there was something, it was quickly resolved by the staff.

Highly recommend Aratinga Inn! The staff is really lovely and helpful not to mention the outstanding breakfast and afternoon cake. We received snorkles and beach towels too which was really handy. Location wise you only need a couple of minutes to get to the center so no problem.
The rooms are a little small and a place to store clothes would have been nice to have. Otherwise all perfect!

Everything! Location, breakfast, lovely room, cleanliness, etc….but most of all the kindness and friendliness of the owner and staff who couldn’t do enough for us and made our stay a truly memorable one. Thank you! And thank you for arranging our transfer to Rio for us - it went very smoothly!
Nothing.

1.) Staff were absolutely exceptional and it felt like we was part of a family rather than being in a "professional" hotel which was really nice and they were all super friendly. One of them had a really good passion for music and played the piano and guitar for me and my mum which was really amazing to see!
2.) The breakfast was absolutely amazing and the tea timed between 4pm-6pm included in the price was well timed and gave a boost to the end of the day. Their homemade cakes was amazing (as a Type 1 diabetic it was a challenge to keep my blood sugar under control as to how amazing it was). Staff was very friendly and talkative so even if was on your own, you wouldn't feel alone.
3.) I was able to was my dirty clothes which accumulated over the last week for only 30 reals / kg which is far cheaper than a hotel!!
4.) Staff at reception was very helpful and was able to give us lots of ideas of what to do on the island and Ilha Grande is such a nice place for nature and boat trips.
5.) Facilities are basic however it is a very nice place to stay and very well looked after. There even is a nice hammock outside you can rest / sleep in.
1.) Showers were not warm enough and after a rainy day it would have been nice to have a warm shower
2.) The breakfast was absolutely outstanding apart from the cheesebread which was too hard

Breakfast was very good with essential items all very fresh. Premises are beautiful, away from the hubbub of downtown Ilha Grande. Staff was very helpful, cordial and friendly. Hotel is undergoing some renovation, which will make it even better.
Nothing worth reporting

I stayed for six nights and it was perfect. The room was lovely and spotlessly clean. The staff were charming, friendly and always helpful with information. The breakfast and afternoon tea were excellent too, I loved everything about it. Thank you Sergio and the team.

Ilha Grande is a jewel! We came off-season but the weather was perfect and we did not have to fight big crowds anywhere. The staff at Aratinga Inn are some of the friendliest and most helpful people we've met across all our travels, we cannot say enough good things about them. Sergio (the owner) and his family truly made us feel like we were at home there.

Hosts were really nice and helpfull!!
We got the twin beds; however, It is better if you get the queen/king bed.

Lovely Pousada. Location a bit uphill but this makes it very peaceful. Staff very helpful and owner went out of his way to help us with whatever to make our stay perfect. View from balcony amazing and overlooking the mainland and ocean. Room was small and basic, but was ok for our stay. Only thing missing was a safe, but there is one at the reception. Why I did not give a higher score is the air conditioning in the room. It was an old unit that was very noisy. We could not use it at night and this is when we needed it the most :( I would recommend to double check which rooms have the new units before you book. Apart from that, we loved every minute and would like to thank the owner for helping us organise transport from Rio to the island and to Paraty.

Beautiful hotel with a stunning garden full of flowers and plants
Kindest staff in love with the island - Kuddos to Joao for all the insider tips and Sergio for making you feel at home
Nice breakfast
Surprise to find out payment only happens at the check-in

The friendly care the owner & staff provided. They went out of their way to make us feel at home. I had an open wound that got infected & they found me the right doctor on land. Nothing was too much trouble.
Our bathroom needed more hooks to hang stuff. My son’s bedroom next door had more.

Aratinga Inn is a 10!!! Rennie and her staff are absolutely adorable. The garden is stunning. The breakfast and afternoon tea (yes it exists!) are homemade and delicious. Rooms are very very clean and cosy. 200% recommended!

We were warmly welcomed by the Dona de casa Rennie from the very beginning. Everyday she gave us the best recommendations what to see and what to do best with our little time at Ilha Grande. Besides the accommodation is located in a lovely and exotic garden. You can feel the familiar atmosphere and that Rennie (Dona da casa) loves what she does and she just owns it. She is such a lovely, helpful and charismatic lady.
We were very happy to have chosen the Araringa Inn and can recommend this place a 100 percent. The breakfast was very delicious too!
Very important: Do not bring heavy luggage with you!!! A backpack is more than enough!
As we had booked the last 2 available rooms (probably one of the smaller rooms) there was not enough space to store the luggage because of the room size. That’s why we recommend to just bring a backpack.

Delicious breakfast. Quiet, calm and peaceful location. Beautiful gardens with hummingbirds all around.
The room was perfect and we had our best nights' sleep in Brazil there.
The staff were all really friendly and Rennie is a brilliant host, it felt like visiting a long lost auntie!

Beautiful Inn, located in a quiet zone. It has very nice common spaces; I loved having breakfast and merienda while watching the hummingbirds. Rennie is a wonderful hostess. She was super kind and gave us very good advice on what to do (and what not to) in Abraão. Thank you!!
Everything was fine; we really enjoyed our stay!

It was away from the hustle and bustle of the island, but still a quick walk away.

Rennie is the perfect host - incredibly passionate and her knowledge of Isla Grande is limitless! It had rained a lot as we arrived on the island, so she was so helpful in recommending things we could do/enjoy in the conditions.
We were in one of the double rooms; it was quite small, with no real space to put clothes etc. We also felt the bathroom was in need of a deep clean (there was an odour - only partially masked by a toilet chemical - which didn’t seem to be present in the room next door). It is also worth noting there isn’t a sea view as advertised (it was only visible from the shared veranda?)

This is the best place to stay ! Rennie will think of everything and make your stay the best you van imagine. Our final stop in Brazil which we will always remember as such a wonderfull place

nothing of reasonable note.

A fabulous rainforest, garden retreat. Incredible host who goes above and beyond to make sure your stay is both comfortable and filled with activities, as her knowledge of the island is vast. The inn is around a 3/5 minute walk from the village which is an easy meander to the shops and restaurants. The inn is generally quiet and very clean.
The only thing I can comment on is that although the room I stayed in was clean and cosy, more room to hang clothes etc in the rooms would have been good. There isn't much room to manoeuvre when your bags are on the floor.

Aratinga Inn was the most wonderful place to stay, for four idyllic days in Isla Grande. Rennie is an expert on the island, and couldn't have been more helpful. The property is amazing value for money, the bedrooms extremely comfortable, and the afternoon tea a bonus! Thanks so much, Rennie.

We liked everything. From the nice garden with the hummingbirds, the delicious breakfast & 4 o’clock coffee, tea and cake moment, to the charming rooms; but mostly we liked the warm heart and good vibes of the owner Rennie.

The gardens were beautiful. The food was excellent, as was the coffee, even though it’s not a restaurant you get that great experience. It’s super well located and a quick walk to everything that the little town has to offer.

We had a wonderful stay here. Aratinga is Rennie and Rennie is Aratinga. One of the most helpful and welcoming hosts I have ever experienced. The room is beautiful and the property is well maintained. Breakfast and afternoon both delicious. We were sad to leave!
The only thing that could have been improved was the air con, it could have been stronger.

Everything from the enthusiastic welcome from Rennie the owner, the care and consideration of me as a guest, the tips and advice and lovely staff. If you're looking for tranquility, fresh breakfast with view of feeding hummingbirds, wake up to the sound of tropical birds, be near everything you need and get exceptional help with anything then this is the place for you. Next time I'd like a game of backgammon with Rennie!
Nothing to dislike but would have loved a wardrobe because I had been living out of my suitcase for several days before.
