About this house rental
Hale O' Waikoloa
This 2,000 square feet vacation house is built of solid cedar "timbers" which are 4" thick, and the entire interior and exterior are clear-stained to highlight the beauty of the color and pattern of the wood. Central Air Conditioning keeps this three bedrooms, 2.5 bath home. Two bedrooms have queen beds, and one which has two twin beds; a room adjacent to the kitchen has a daybed and can serve as a fourth bedroom. In addition to the master bathroom, there are a full bathroom and a half-bathroom. The open beam design and fifteen-foot living room ceiling provide an expansive and airy effect. There are many windows oriented to the northwest for views of the ocean and the Kohala mountain.
The furniture is mainly Scandinavian and the many paintings and art objects are primarily from Asia and Europe; of note are a porcelain figurine of a ballet dancer from Moscow, Russia, and an intricate horse-drawn carriage figurine from Vienna, Austria.
The 400 square feet covered lanai opens to views of the ocean and the beautiful Kohala mountain. Views of sunsets from this vantage point are truly enchanting and magical!
Some of the best beaches in Hawaii are a short drive away, such as Hapuna Beach, Mauna Kea Beach and Anaehoomalu Bay (A-Bay); beach supplies like hats, towels, chairs, sunscreen, boogie boards, coolers, etc. are stored in a hall closet, and available for use by guests.
Waikoloa Village has an 18-hole Robert Trent Jones, Jr.-designed golf course, where guests receive a discounted green fee. Other top-notch golf courses at most of the resort hotels are a short 10 miles away.
A shopping center in Waikoloa Village has a full-service market, bank, gas station, restaurants, medical office, and a variety of shops.
Hale O' Waikoloa is ideally located to serve as your home base to visit the many beaches and natural wonders on the Big Island, including Volcano National Park and Mauna Kea Observatory.

The house has an open setup and is perfect for 6 people. There’s lots of living space and bathrooms, plus the lanai is heaven - especially for enjoying breakfast in the morning. The area is very peaceful with lots of birds, lizards, and amazing greenery that make it feel like a true getaway!
Most of our time was spent in the open kitchen, gathered around the big island where we cooked our meals and had great talks.
Nearby is a gas station and grocery store in case you need to pick anything up before exploring the island. There are lots of beaches within 20-30 minutes and Kona is a 40-minute drive away (which is worth it to check out some great food spots).
Of course there’s always some things you wish you had while on vacation, but it doesn’t mean it diminished our experience. Luckily the guests before us left behind extra garbage bags and cooking spices, but it would be nice to be provided with basic essentials like paper towels or toilet paper. You really do need to take the trash out nightly because cockroaches will appear. This is not the fault of the homeowners, just the nature of the climate.
We had lots of beach supplies provided (snorkels, towels, boogie board) but the listing said there would be a cooler for us to use and there was none to be found. When I messaged the owners via the AirBnb app, they never replied so we ended up having to buy one.
Overall we had a great experience. This was an amazing house with lots of room, charm, and many great memories were made! I would definitely recommend this spot for a group coming into town for an event who wants a home base to cook good food and chill out.
