The Halcyon

The location was great—just outside the busy town centre with easy access to the quieter part of the beach. The staff were genuinely friendly and gave great recommendations for restaurants and places to visit. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable.

The single room was very small, really more of a shoebox. The bathroom was equally tiny, with a very small sink and hardly any space to put toiletries, which made it a bit impractical. There was a fan in the room (which was much appreciated), but no fridge or hairdryer. I had specifically booked a sea view room, but the window was extremely small - more like half a window - and unfortunately it was quite dirty. I wouldn't have minded the small window quite as much if it had at least been clean enough to properly enjoy the view. I realise prices were probably inflated because of the Eastbourne Open, but overall I felt it was a little overpriced for what was offered.

The churl on reception who couldn’t accept a straight apology for unavoidably late arrival. The loud rattling bedroom door and tired interior.
