The Homestead, Cliff-en-Howe Rd, Pott Row, Kings Lynn

The Homestead is a gorgeous little cottage in the large grounds of a house in a pretty, quiet area, with nothing more than the sound of horses pottering around in the fields behind to wake up to... very tranquil. I slept like a log both nights in the pretty double room at the back. there was another double room to the side, and two single rooms, one with two beds, leaving plenty of space had more friends wanted to come to the gig I went to at the Sandringham Estate, a mere few miles away. It is the perfect location for visiting Sandringham, being so close, yet away from any hustle and bustle. The friendly hosts even gave lifts to and from the venue. What an excellent offer - possibly 2 of the nicest hosts I have met, and very helpful all round. I will definitely go again. It would also be an excellent venue to go for walks with the dogs, such a gorgeous area. The rooms were exceptionally fitted with all that could possibly be needed, towels, extra bedding, and DVDs and books filling the cupboards in the living room. A spacious kitchen, containing crockery and cutlery, microwave, fridge and freezer. I cannot fault it. Thanks so much to Tommy and Julia for your fantastic hospitality 😀

The location was lovely and within easy reach of the coast and other attractions

The back step into the back garden was a bit dodgy but could be easily fixed. Also, as there was a bath with a shower over it, it would have been handy to have a grab rail for us oldies!

The owners were relaxed about what I did there. The location is lovely if you want to be able to do nice walks from the property. I guess if there were six of you sharing the bill, then the cost of the place is ok.

Sadly, the place was not clean. The kitchen cupboards needed a good sort out. There was something melted in the little freezer and I was told the freezer hadn't been on for a long time. So when was someone going to check it or clean it? The teatowels were so stained and old it was difficult to tell if they'd been washed. Generally, it felt like the place was given a 'this will do' once over between guests. The windows were thick with grime. I don't usually write negative reviews, but this is the third reminder I've had from Booking.com to write one. I don't think it would take much effort by the owners to lift the place - a thorough professional clean, a lick of paint, repair the wobbly tap in the bathroom, and some new teatowels and dishcloths. Then it would be fine. Then a little more care between guests. I've never stayed anywhere that had so little effort put into making the place fresh and welcoming.
