Really lovely town. Great spot to stay with all the mod cons. Quirky flat, but really comfortable

It was quirky. Top of a building in an unlikely place. Made shopping easy as you could drop the bags back off and go back out.

Really hard to find. You drive in and sat nav says you have arrived and you have no clue! A small map on the welcome email would go a long way to helping

Fabulous stay in a beautiful apartment close to all amenities. Can’t wait to go back!

It was in a fantastic location, a stones throw from the Abbey and market with lots of bars and restaurants on the doorstep. The rooms were beautifully decorated and the bed was really comfortable. The heating warms the rooms up really quickly too. It was an added bonus to have decent wine and champagne glasses to drink from! There are some lovely walks nearby - I recommend the walk along the river to the Boatside Inn for great food and wine.

The parking space was a bit confusing to find but host was fantastic and rang me back straight away to explain.

A beautiful, immaculately clean and comfortable apartment in central Hexham, a great location for a visit with many restaurants, cafes and bars nearby. Susan is a superb host, really helpful. I can’t recommend this place highly enough.

Great little flat, in a great location.

Great location for us as we were attending a wedding at the Abbey.

I’m just over 6ft and I bumped my head a few times on the low door frames etc. However, I’m already daft as a brush so it’s fine!

Comfortable stay in Hexham

Location excellent, right in town Good size apartment

Parking - Two dedicated spaces (both parking behind yellow lines and both found to be in use on many occasions by other cars)! Many stairs with sprung fire doors made taking luggage up difficult. Low ceilings - sore head Bedroom door difficult to close and bright automatic light right outside door which lights up bedroom when partner pops out in the night! Many light bulbs (in bathroom and in bedroom) not working, or very dim. Bath is loose and moves, should be siliconed down to floor. No freezer compartment in fridge, would be useful so we can store food (especially when staying fir a week) and freeze cool blocks for days out.

Enjoyable stay, a couple of issues though.

Great Central location to the town centre. Unit was comfortable , but a little quirky as typical of its age, being a listed property.

Parking wasn't dedicated, so uncertain availability. We weren't able to park in the designated spot as someone else parked there earlier and didn't leave overnight. The unit needs to be aired a bit more to remove the musty air.

Market Place View review

The flat had everything we needed and everything in the kitchen and bathroom, plus the TV, worked well. The accommodation was just the right size for us. The bed was comfortable. The parking space beside the building was available, and very convenient.

The entrance and stairs are pretty drab. Parts of the flat look a little tired, and most of the floors are on the tilt, so it feels as though you are on a boat when walking around the flat. To other guests, this could be the charm of an older property though, I suppose. The hall light is on a motion sensor, so opening the bedroom door in the night is an enlightening experience for both guests!

Comfortable, clean, homely but smart and lastly, excellent communication with the host.

The accommodation had a lovely vibe as soon as you walked through the door. The bed was one of the comfiest I’ve ever slept in! We were walking Hadrian’s Trail, so it was a treat to have a bath available too. Lovely big sitting area …. we chose to stay in as all our other nights in different accommodation along the trail were B&Bs,so it was a novelty to be able to self cater! Great kitchen with all the basics. Very central to Hexham too, so very handy for shops and restaurants. Hexham is a lively, bustling town.

Nothing really. The only thing I would say is if you have mobility issues, the stairs up to the flat are quite steep, and you need to keep in mind that there is a flight of stairs to the left as you exit the bathroom. Maybe another door might be a good idea? But there is a light sensor on the landing area, so there’s no chance of not ‘seeing’ the stairs at night time. The WI-FI code needs to be written somewhere in the property down and made more clear as there are several options and it was a little confusing!

Beautiful stylish apartment right in the centre of Hexham. The contact person was incredibly helpful and kind when I was unnecessarily worried about whether I was allowed to park over the front of the building – which turns out to be absolutely fine

Not all bad but wouldn’t stay there again. Hexham town is lovely and quiet a quaint place.

It was good on the eye at first glance and once in the apartment it’s looking nice.

The property is made to look cosy and most of it is but the bed was so uncomfortable and the mattress cover was badly stained as I noticed on the day of leaving after stripping the bed ready for them to clean. The entrance is a climb up narrow winding stairs and parking is not good. Bit disappointing as could be better especially the dirty bedding.windows are notes really safe as don’t close, the bath leaks when its emptying but a lovely bathroom otherwise

Town centre gem…

Loved the comfort and location. Highly recommended apartment. Unfortunately no good for people with mobility issues. Careful on the stairs with baggage! As with other reviews I got to know Hexam quite well in efforts to find the property in the car. I was lucky and managed to park outside the front door, others may find it a frustrating challenge.

Lovely apartment in a central location.

The apartment is very well-appointed with lots of little extras that demonstrate attention to detail by the host. It's an old building but it has been very well modernised. It is spacious and very comfortable, and we'd happily have stayed longer. It's also in a great central location in the town.

The understated and somewhat unwelcoming entrance belies what you find when you get into the apartment. Getting to the upper floor with various items of luggage was a challenge, navigating sprung doors, cold vinyl floors and steep stairs, making the apartment virtually inaccessible for anyone with any mobility issues.

A fabulous fortnight in Hexham

The host was fabulous, a great communicator from the get go and stayed in contact throughout the 2 week stay. We LOVED the location!!!! Hexham is perfectly situated to explore Hadrian’s Wall and nearby market towns. We did not have a car and went everywhere by bus or train. We made our meals at home but enjoyed coffee at the local independent cafés, especially the Green Garden. We popped in the Abbey several times, there are many details you could overlook otherwise.

We prefer a firm bed, but that being said we slept very, very well!!

Great quirky flat in the centre of town

Quirky flat right in the centre of town. Good sized living and bedroom (though watch your head if you're tall!), well-equipped kitchen, very comfortable bed, shower and bath available, helpful host, everything clean and sparkling.

There was an issue with the heating control when I arrived, but the host sorted it within a couple of hours. One or two minor bits of maintenance needed e.g. lightbulbs and loose fittings - minor points though.

Great location. Lots of character.

Great location for us as we had no car and were attending a wedding at Hexham House, a minutes walk away. Slept well and the shower was good, although tall visitors may find the low ceiling a challenge. Love old listed buildings so we appreciated the character. Surprisingly quiet for a town centre location with old single glazed sash windows.

The small ironing board made preparing for the wedding a bit of a pain and parking wasn’t ideal if we had decided to drive. We traveled light, but some people may find the stairs and fire doors challenging if having heavy cases. We couldn’t get the thermostat to work to get the heated towel rail on (kept saying no signal). Hit my head once on a low door frame but soon learnt when to duck!

Apartment was ok. It was furnished to a nice standard. And it was in a central location, if you can park somewhere near it. The owner is responsive to your messages.

Parking issues. Poor entrance, was like walking in the back of a shop. It also smelt slightly damp. Would add...parking is a big issue in Hexham full stop....not just this property.

Great Location - Picture-Perfect English Village on Your Doorstep

The location could not be beat. The property is located in the very middle of the quintessential English village. Postcard perfection!

I could not get the wifi to work. If I had only been looking to disconnect and go out to enjoy all the local flavor, it would have been great. But I am on a working vacation and I have to have internet, so unfortunately, I was unable to actually stay at the property.

Ideal location for visting Abbey and other historic sites in Hexham. Parking and access difficult.

Location was excellent, right in the heart of the city. The apartment itself was very comfortable, clean, and well appointed.

Parking was very much an issue despite reassurances from the manager that street parking was easily available outside the building. Access to the flat was via a very narrow staircase with low ceiling beams, and awkward inner fire door. Would not recommend this rental for anybody over 5' 10" in height, or with heavy luggage.

the parking was a nightmare , another car was parked outside of the apartment so it took us some time to find a parking space . could do with a coffee table in the sitting room rather than the huge stool . The entrance and stairs up to the apartment could do with a bit of a spruce up .

The central location of the property suited us very well. The shops and restaurants were close by. It was comfortable and surprisingly quiet.

A minor point, but some milk for tea on arrival would have been very welcome. There were some tea bags I had to go in search of a local shop for milk.

Parking is a challenge in Hexham which is not within the owners control.Also the apartment is up some fairly steep stairs with heavy fire doors at the bottom of the flights.My husband however coped with them despite being on crutches.

The apartment's location in the centre of Hexham is ideal for visiting Hexham Abbey, the parks and shops. It is within easy walking distance of the rail and bus stations, though look out for the steep hill at Hallstile Bank! The apartment is a hidden gem, well equipped and elegantly furnished - a surprise at the top of the stairs, which could challenge people with mobility issues. Host Susan is very helpful and friendly and goes out of her way to ensure that guests have all that they need.

I cannot think of any more that Susan could do to improve this apartment. It met all my needs.
