peaceful and quiet
The only issue we experienced was with the shower. It was difficult to control the temperature — when the water pressure was low, it became too hot, and when the pressure was higher, the water turned very cold.

Kinlochleven is a lovely village. I'm grateful to the bar keeper who stayed on to check us in. The beds were quite comfy.
The heating did not work. The window was broken and could not be properly closed. The room was cold. Fortunately, we had taken sleeping bags with us and so we took them in from the car and these, on top of the duvets, kept us warm. There was a fan like noise coming from the room next door which was on for most of the night.

Convenient for walking the WHW.
Everything was old and dated. The towels were unraveling around the edges and looked very old. Did not get a good night sleep as everything was creaking.

Great location above the Loch. Bar menu had good variety and service and food was good.
Older facility, small space, leaky shower. Nightstand had missing foot.

The location.
Not very welcoming.
Hallway smelled of old chip fat and it was also like a furnace with the tumble dryers contributing to a already very hot day. Bedding felt very worn, bed was wobbly. Managed to make dinner before 9pm after walking for 9 hours and felt like we were being rushed. Bar was closed about 9:30pm so we had to go elsewhere. Seating in bar was ripped.

Room clean. Staff friendly. In a good location
There was a beeping noise the whole night - we were in room 3 not sure where it was coming from but it beeped all night and made our sleep unsettled

The room was more than adequate and it was nice and cool when we slept, which was perfect because the summer days were hot!
The staff was so friendly and the pub food was excellent! The space was clean and comfortable!
I was worried because I had seen so many negative reviews... and if you are hiking WHW, it was one of our favorite places we stayed!
It was great!

Friendly staff. Good food. Great location for West Highland Way
Toilets could do with work. Handwashdispensers broken and doesn't look like recently. Either replace or remove. Not expensive but would leave a better impression. Mattress on beds very very worn. Again not a huge cost.

This was a lovely stay at the inn - firstly the staff were superb - especially the lady at breakfast! The food was great and we enjoyed a few drinks in the pub - a very nice stay
The bedrooms are a bit jaded - but comfortable and still good value

Good location. The younger guy behind the bar was nice.
There are so many things wrong with this place that it’s hard to put into words. Firstly, I have no idea how it meets health standards. There was black mould in the shower, urine on the toilet seat, another person’s hair in the sink, suspect white stains on the carpets and literal filth on the walls. I felt safer and more cleanly sleeping in my tent out in nature the previous few nights.
Secondly, the bed was incredibly uncomfortable. The linen was awful, scratchy, coarse and had holes in it. The bed itself was springy and I could feel it digging into my ribcage. It was saggy to the point where I thought I’d roll off the bed. I’m a skinny, 5 foot tall female - I can’t imagine how uncomfortable a taller or heavier person would have been.
Thirdly, the linen was frayed, covered in dust (I presume from an uncleaned dryer) and clearly dated. After my shower, I dried myself and looked down and thought I was covered in blood. When I put my glasses on I realised it was red fluff from the towel. Surely it isn’t that expensive to just replace the towels, sheets and covers?
Fourthly, the place was far from noise proof. The stairs and floorboards were so creaky and loud. The walls were also paper thin and I could hear everything going on in the other rooms and downstairs.
Finally, while the young guy behind the bar was nice, the other staff didn’t seem to care. I was told that breakfast was at 7am, so went downstairs at 7:15am and not only was nobody there, but the restaurant doors were closed and locked. With a 25km hike ahead of me, this was not very impressive and could have been disastrous had I not been carrying spare food.

Location was great, staff friendly but looked under pressure.
Was very tired and old could really do with new towels, bedding and a lick of paint. Staff were good but feel they are under pressure to work with what they have got and owner not investing. Was an old towel in the bin and place had only had a quick clean. I suspect this was due to the issues they were having that day as check in was very late as their tumble drier/washing machine had broke down. Doesn’t excuse the old and frayed towels and bedding could just buy new ones. Not worth the cost of the stay.

Location.
The rooms were outdated. The bed linen was faded and not fresh. Carpets were stained. Shower tray was leaking. Toilet seat broken. Towels were ripped. Covered in bites in morning. Breakfast was shocking and inedible. No dairy free options - no vegan/sunflower butter for toast. No bacon. No pastries. No milk alternative for cereal. Food served cold. Gas apparently broken. Till broken. Table dirty. The list goes on….

I think it’s just the location that worked….. rest everything was disappointing …
The mattresses, the food, the cleanliness of rooms, not good at all.

Drinks, dinner and breakfast were good. The staff is friendly and helpful. The pub/restaurant is nice inside and outside.
The room was disappointing after having had a good dinner. The beds are way past their renewal date, including the covers which were too itchy to sleep under. The shower drain did not work well at first and the heater in the bathroom was on full power while we had warm weather.
Leaving the key in the room, the staff did not have any spare. We climbed in through the window with a ladder provided by the cook. We felt we stayed in Fawlty Towers.

Leaving.
I didn't like being charged £150 plus an extra £12.50pp for breakfast to stay in a building that could only be described as a hovel. This hotel is easily the worst we have ever stayed in. There was a smell as soon as you entered, the carpets throughout were threadbare and filthy. Doors are ill-fitting and stick. The room was fairly clean, but the bed was ready to fall apart and had a very cheap and uncomfortable mattress. The bedding was far too thick for during the current weather. We couldn’t use the drawers as they were dirty. The shower room wasn't cleaned properly. The shower itself had rust on the door and mould around the shower tray. The seat was too small for the toilet. After reading other reviews we decided against eating dinner here thankfully, but we did go to breakfast. This was awful. Cheap ingredients that had not been cooked properly (my wife had eggs benedict which was basically slops). The butter portions had clearly been sitting out overnight and when you opened it, it was just melted grease.
A major concern was the lack of safety. The guests in the next room next door locked their key in the room by mistake and were told the hotel had neither a spare key nor a master key. Staff tried to pick the lock and couldn’t. They ended up using a ladder up to the window to gain entry. If a guest took seriously unwell inside a room there us no way to enter and help them. Another huge safety issue was the drying room where the hotel were drying wet bath mats over heaters and covering all the vents on said heaters. A major fire risk!
The owners of this place should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. I have never felt so ripped off in my life. Awful, awful experience.
I have to give it a 1.0 as there is no "zero" option.

Very little
Unfriendly staff, mould in shower, hole in wall, broken toilet seat, very cold and uncomfortable beds, not clean, old worn out towels, some lights not working, switches hidden behind tv to work shower, packed lunches had stale bread and old salad, breakfast service poor and range limited.

Perfectly situated where you come off the West Highland Way.
The rooms are very tired, the beds uncomfortable and the bathrooms need upgrading - the loo seats were loose and the showers were mouldy and didn’t drain. It’s very expensive for what it is.

Decent location for other amenities in village, sightseeing
As basically pub with rooms at £75 pp breakfast should be included though could be bought for another £12.50 pp. Shower leaking door.

The location is good
For the price it is not worth it all. The bedding needs to be upgraded. Its is very old and not very comfortable. Better duvets and covers would improve this a lot. A simple change that would make a big difference I think.

We loved the location, the staff, the atmosphere in the bar and the excellent food. The staff were exceptional- we felt true hospitality. Donna was just brilliant - she was efficient and friendly. She led a young team who are learning from the best. Young Anton and Emily will do brilliantly under her wing.
Not much.

Location was good and staff V friendly.
Rooms were very tired - lavatory seat kept coming off.
When going via booking.com there was no option to get breakfast added on.

Room in desperate need of an upgrade. Uncomfortable bed with no support and springs that twanged as you moved. Towels were old and frayed. Radiator made noises through the night.
Food in the bar area was good and staff pleasant.

Location was perfect for the WHW. Staff were friendly and helpful. Dogs were well watered and given lots of attention. Good tea and coffee facilities in the room
Rooms were dated, and the bed wasn't the most comfortable.

Staff interacted with were all friendly. Location was good too as it is along the WHW. Room was clean.
Tried the Fish and Chips. Batter was crispy but the fish inside was mushy. Room itself was clean but the restaurant/bar floor as well as the stairs/hallway to the room needs a good vacuuming/sweeping.

Doing the west Highland Way, we stopped over here on route to Fort William. We were soaked through to the skin. A staff member welcomed us in and didn't hang around in giving us a key to our pre booked room. There was 3 of us and the room was more than big enough. The all important shower didn't disappoint, hot as you would want it or as cold as you dare. The beds were comfortable and we all had a good sleep. The big bonus for us was the drying room , a bit unorganised/free for all regarding hanging up of garments and boots but great the fact they had one. My only complaint was the squeaky hinge door on the entrance to the drying room. Especially when you have 4,30am risers getting ready for an early start.

Great location for the end of the day on the trail. It had a bed, shower, and comfortable pub area. Nice breakfast.
Furnishings and finishes could use a update.

Comfortable room. Pub and restaurant in the same building. Great food. Convenient location. Very friendly owners.
There was a Scotland game on and it got a bit wild. Thankfully we had ear plugs. Nothing the hotel staff could do really so it’s not a negative point at all really. Just an FYI for future travellers.
