Private room

If you expect an hotel-like accommodation (bright room, modern design, LCD TV, tech gadgets, nice window views), this place might not be for you. This is a classical Maltese house, with elegant interior design and decorations. The room is located on the first floor. You will find here a large room with many pieces of wooden carved furniture with mirrors, big paintings, traditional bedspreads, and ceramic decorations (teapots, vases, etc). In your room you have air conditioning, small fridge, microwave oven, tea kettle, dishes and cutlery. Photos are taken before my departure. The bathroom is outside of the main room, next door on the hallway, but it is nice and private. You have there shower and bathtub, many towels, and again several pieces of wooden carved furniture. The water heater is located right above the shower so you get very fast really hot water if needed. The common area of the house is decorated with many paintings, nice furniture, statues, swards, old pistols, porcelain collections, etc. Plenty nice things to admire (but don't touch). The host (Dorianne) replied quickly to my messages before, during, and after my visit. She and her husband are very kind and welcoming, but they are not intrusive and respect your privacy. They go the extra mile to make you feel welcome: - they left in my room free croissants, biscuits packs, 2 x 2 liter water bottles, tea, coffee, etc (very useful since I arrived on a Sunday at 10 PM) - they warned me about upcoming storms and dangerous weather, being worried that I might go outside unprepared. The neighborhood seems very quiet, at least in the mornings and evenings (I didn't spend much time there during the day). There is a store very close (3 minutes away), a pizza place and pharmacy (5 minutes away), and many other businesses.

I don't have something that I didn't like, but here are some things that others should consider before booking: - the stairs on the main entry might be difficult for someone old or with disabilities; - the outside window view goes to a small interior backyard and an enclosing wall (it's not a big deal as you can get plenty of nice views once you go outside) - there isn't central heating so the house felt a bit cold during my staying (however, I was there in one of the coldest periods of the year and the AC in the room help me raise the temperature to a comfortable level, so not a big issue)

Exceptional

A lovely spacious room with exterior private bathroom in quiet street, close to bus line 61 to/from Valletta. The house is charming (enjoy the collection of porcelain clowns) and the hosts friendly and helpful. Everything is spotlessly clean and room has kettle, microwave, plates and cutlery and fridge. The bed was very comfy. There is a mini market nearby. Overall a lovely stay away from the bustle of Valletta, and great value for money.

Everything was perfect.

Tutto sommato come appoggio va bene A livello di appoggio c’è il phon, aria condizionata, frigo e il bagno è spazioso e l’essenziale per la permanenza.

Premetto che trattasi di una vacanza nel periodo più caldo AGOSTO. La sorpresa nella notte (blatte) sia in camera che in bagno. Il bagno è inspiegabilmente una sauna la sera, probabilmente batte il sole. Solo per chi può impressionarsi e non è il mio caso, oggetti sparsi per la casa vintage corridoio e saletta post ingresso (bambole, pagliacci e animali di ceramica) Asciugamani e copriletto male odoranti io suppongo non sporchi ma male asciugati il che incide sull’odore in camera. Cuscini troppo sottili e sintetici Consigli alla famiglia che affitta le camere: - usare un asciugatrice per i vestiti o appendere fuori la roba da asciugare. - dare una lavata al pavimento con la candeggina almeno ogni due giorni, cambiando asciugamani e lenzuola (magari d’accordo con l’ospite ) - cambiare set letto e cuscini con meno sintetici. - assolutamente agevolare e imporre lo svuotamento del cestino interno alla camera (con tripartizione differenziata) - inserire qualsivoglia elettrodomestico che possa deumidificare e rinfrescare il bagno. - passare un detergente per legno sugli armadi (interno e esterno). - favorire il circolo d’aria e inserire un profumo d’ambiente - una retina anti zanzare per la finestra e/o delle piastrine da mettere nella presa.
