Nice Location, tired apartment.

Location is good for exploring Edinburgh being close to Holyrood. Large Apartment.

Tired, dated. Broken crockery felt like a lot of damage visible and needs a lick of paint. Sheets / towels were poor quality. Lighting was mainly two big spider lights on the ceiling which look good, but have the effect of being brighter than the sun when turned on. Compared to a lot of Apartments we have stayed in in the city, this one needs some serious TLC. Given the price paid, def not value for money.

Good location for a family break

The location was great. Very close to Holyrood palace & Dynamic Earth + plenty of coffee shops for food/breakfast & only a 10m walk from Waverley station

It was noisy at night, the toilet smelt of drains (they were friendly, responded quickly & tried to address this).

No one expects 30 degrees thermostat settings!

Apartment was contemporary and well appointed rooms were spacious

The heating was set to 30 degrees, which seemed excessive. There was no info on how to use any appliances, so it was a bit hit and miss,dishwasher, and heating, especially. Maybe having systems set to 30 degrees needs addressing as the whole apartment was unbearably hot for the entire stay and no one in our party slept either night due to it, making what should have been a nice relaxing theatre trip unduly tiring and not enjoyable and ruining our whole trip unfortunately i wouldnt stay again

Very comfortable suite for 4 adults to share and Joivy staff were great at problem solving!

The location was excellent. Easy walking distance to Waverly Station and to many of the popular sights of Edinburgh including the Castle. Also has a city bus stop right out front. Great access to groceries and restaurants nearby. The apartment had very comfortable beds and a nice living room/kitchen area for us to use.

Access to laundry facilities onsite would have been appreciated. The suite was not cleaned and ready for our arrival due to a mistake made by Joivy. They were immediately responsive to our call and quickly arranged transport for us to a nearby hotel for the night which included free food/breakfast. Our booked property was cleaned the next day and Joivy moved our luggage over for us so we didn't have to pause any of our site seeing. Excellent service!

Great space, comfortable environment in a desirable location

It was really well designed and laid out. Beds were comfy, location was good, it had everything we needed and the staff were great. The TV remote stopped working while we were there and I messaged to say this and by the time I returned in the afternoon, a new remote with spare batteries was waiting for me.

Great location.

We booked a two bedroom, two bathroom apartment and it was an absolutely perfect base. We parked in the Dynamic Earth carpark which was a short walk away and was £23 per 24 hours. The apartment was well equipped and spacious and really close to the Royal Mile and all of the central attraction but was on a really quiet street. There was a small kitchenette with fridge, microwave and hob which was more than enough for what we needed for our stay. The apartment was spotlessly clean and the beds were really comfortable. Will definitely stay here again.

Could provide some better instructions on where the bins are, we found them but some other guests had left theor rubbish in the hallway on the ground floor.

Great location.

Great location and loads of space. Nice view and really warm. Styled well. Easy chexk in and out. Great view.

Not value for money. The bathroom soaps were not filled before we started and those that were ran out quickly. One room has a random smell. Can't control the heating so had to people the door open at night. Didn't really appreciate the thought of having to deal with rubbish at the end of the stay when we were on the top floor amd already had ro carry rubbish. We paid top prices to stay in the penthouse and it didn't reflect this. The broken dishwasher door and the paint chips throughout... expected more. A nice pillow could help too.

Location was good. Beds were comfortable.

The property could have been cleaner. Rugs were stained. Batteries in remote for TV didn't work. Stairs only - not suitable for a pram. Sofa was uncomfortable. Took a long time to warm up when we checked in. No flexibility in terms of check in or check out. No door wedges to prop open. Conditioner bottle in shower didn't work.

Great location and you definitely won’t freeze

Stairs , being a heritage building no elevators which is understandable. Go for the lower floors if you have heavy luggage. Underfloor heating was left on high setting by previous guest as well as towel heater. First night our room got up to 30 degrees. We must be the only couple staying in Edinburgh to ever suffer heat stroke. ( Joking of course) Takes approx 24 hours for temp to drop.

Location

The apartment I arrived to was in a truly disgraceful state. The linen was visibly dirty, with marks and stains that made it immediately clear it had not been changed or properly laundered. Equally disturbing was the bathroom, which was left in a condition that no guest should ever encounter, unmistakably unclean and clearly not maintained to even the most basic hygiene standards. Walking into a space that should feel safe and welcoming, only to find soiled bedding and an unclean bathroom, was deeply unsettling and entirely unacceptable. It set the tone for what became an extremely uncomfortable stay. If basic cleanliness matters to you, and it should, I would strongly advise choosing another property.

Stay on the Royal Mile

The locations was perfect....nice to have the kitchen unit to make breakfast in the morning. Very clean.

There was a bad smell in the front hall and the bathroom which didn't enter the rest of the apartment because of the fire doors. The bathroom door scraped on the floor so it could not open fully.

Very nice apartment with little problems

The position is very great, so near to the centre and the apartment is big and perfect for two couples. One bathroom is also en suite and the dining room is very comfortable, though the kitchen area is pretty small. There is also a microwave, perfect for rapid meals. The mattress is not too soft, better for our back, and the cushions are good.

One of the bathroom has a very small sink, but it's not a big deal and the table in the dining room is not so stable. There are two floors of stairs and no elevator, but this was well specified so it was not a surprise. In the instructions they tell to throw the garbage before checking out, this was a nuisance, I would have preferred if they have managed that, anyway it was a good stay

The location of the apartment is amazing, and the apartment is very cosy, we got everything we needed.

The apartment was dirty. Toilets were clean and towels and sheets were changed but there were hairs everywhere, like it was not vacuum cleaned at all. Also there were stamps at the doors from fingerprints.

Really nice apartment with comfy beds, great little fold out kitchen with everything you need. Smart TV so you can watch Netflix. Nice size bathroom with a great shower.

Little bit of noise from traffic on the street but not very noisy at that end of the Royal Mile.

Good value (by Edinburgh old town standards!), would highly recommend.

Great location, spacious, clean. Plenty of hot water, quick response when we had a minor problem with the bedding. Really nice to have two bathrooms. The kitchenette, although small, was really well equipped and perfect for making our own breakfasts and simple-ish meals. We were in an apartment which had a great view of Arthur’s Seat which was a bonus.

As other reviews have mentioned, I can see that it would have been very hot if the temperature outside had been higher - it’s not clear why the windows have such restricted opening. The door mechanism is a bit of a pain in that it doesn’t reliably work, but they did give us a code to operate it physically which was fine.

We were unable to stay. The room was not cleaned. We were told at 7pm to go find another place to stay for the night. They could not get anyone out to clean it. They provided no help in rebooking another hotel or location.

Great location but your on your own for the rest

The staff. Limited toiletries (2.5 rolls of toilet paper for 4 ppl) and were not restocked over the 8 days we were there. No where on the listing saying that the toiletries were stocked the initial supply. Going from a staycity aparthotel where the staff was extremely helpful with extra coffee toiletries towels and sheet to this aparthotell where everything was with an added cost.

Good location across the street from a cemetery but amenities are poor

TV didn’t work, noise of traffic and construction at midnight, dirty carpets, not appropriate blankets for hot weather as you cannot open the windows at night because of the noise, not enough toilet paper or towels, smell of dirty laundry and garbage as you enter as there are bags of it everywhere in the halls, terrible smell from the bathroom on first day, poor lighting for makeup application in one of the bedrooms, and trash facilities are lacking for 4 people in a room.

You're paying for the location, but the accommodation itself is in strong need of a refresh.

Very central location, great compact kitchen, some lovely style choices, powerful shower and comfy mattresses.

The accommodation felt a bit tired and it was clean-ish but not spotless. For the high price we were expecting a higher level of comfort and a greater attention to detail. The sink in the bathroom didn't run well, there was no shower gel nor shampoo as promised, the paintwork and soft furnishings were all heavily marked, there were no curtains only ill-fitting blinds so the bedrooms were never dark - small things that all added up. It was also a noisy place to stay on a main road - you needed the supplied ear plugs.

Good for a short stay in Edingurgh.

Please understand that this property is not a hotel, in that it has no front desk and no staff that faces the customers. Rather, we got a set of instructions through email and WhatsApp, and they were very unflexible regarding early check in (not one minute early). So you hold all your luggage, waiting outside the property door until 3:00pm. Once inside, the facility is very good and comfortable. The property location is quite good, within one mile to the Edingurgh castle and within walking distance to Authur's Seat.

The appartment is perfectly located at the royal mile. Check-in is very convenient at any given time. It's very neat, clean and well decorated - bathrooms are excellent. I forgot some clothes and the owners were happy to ship them back - amazing service!

The apartment was spacious for two people. The location was great! The apartment had all the amenities described on the website. The apartment was very quiet even though we were on the Royal Mile. Would stay there again.

What an amazing time, from the Old Tolgate Pub across the road to Edinburgh Castle and back, so much to do, see and lear

It was a well converted older building which gave it a lot of character and the kitchen design was a great use of space.

No elevator might be a challenge if you had a number of large suitcases however we traveled light so it wasn’t actually an issue at all.

The location is great. The rooms were spacious and the flat was well equipped except there was no washing machine in the flat or the building which was a bit unexpected since it’s an Aparthotel. We could not adjust the heating from within the flat, we had to call the helpline multiple times to fix it., which was very inconvenient. The lighting in the lounge was uncomfortably too bright and there were no lamps or soft light. We had to sit in the lounge with the lights turned off. We asked for extra toiletries and we were told that we had to inform a day ahead since it has to be relayed to the cleaning company and extra payment is required.
