Met Hotel

The service was great!!!

Amazing staff - super friendly, helpful, proactive, polite! The staff alone is reason enough to recommend the hotel :D Whenever we had a question or request, everybody was eager to help and find a solution. Several staff members spoke very good German, which was a pleasant surprise and occasionally helpful. Breakfast was included and very good! The buffet is not exuberant but every ingredient is fresh and delicious. I particularly loved the fresh Menemen, Gevrek, the selection of various types of olives and the fresh herbs! Delightful! Location is central and made traveling around comfortable.

The only downside to our stay was that the room doors appeared somewhat pervious to noise from the stairwell. This usually meant a bit of noise for a short time from the cleaning staff in the morning as the door to their equipment was next to our room and used to snap shut rather loudly. But I think this might only have been an issue on our floor and could also be solved by now.

The Met was a compact, clean and modern property centrally located in the city, where the staff parked my car for me in an auto house opposite when I was hiring one. We booked a superior double room and it was as large with an additional divan/couch as described. On the 6th floor, the room was quiet despite being at the front of the building.

My wife likes to use the stairs for exercise, but the lighting was a bit too subdued to use the stairs safely. The breakfast staff were very helpful, but the choices were a bit limited. Bread rolls and something sweet like baclava to go with the coffee would have been nice.

I didn’t realize this hotel allows smoking so it smells as cigarette smoke at times even on non-smoking floors. It was a major drawback for me. Although the hotel is in central location, it is in a less nicer part of the town on a very busy boulevard. Stay in Alsancak for a more aesthetic experience and less crowded streets.
