Villa Maria Luxury Apartments ''Bunec-Piqeras''!

Villa Maria offers comfortable apartments in the picturesque village of Piqeras. We stayed in a ground-floor apartment, which has a spacious terrace, a small kitchen, a large bedroom, and a bathroom. Although the house is situated right on the main road through the village, it is pretty quiet. There is also some parking space next to the house. Piqeras itself is a lovely place to stay. There are two small shops in the village, although they have a limited selection and accept cash only. There are also a few restaurants – we highly recommend the amazing Taverna Victoria, where you can pay by card – as well as several hiking trails leading both down to the beach and up into the mountains. All of this makes Piqeras a very enjoyable and relaxing base. The house gives off a quaint, distinctly Albanian vibe, which we found rather charming. As for Maria herself, I can’t praise her enough. We felt genuinely cared for throughout our stay, and she is an absolutely wonderful host. Every day, Maria surprised us with homemade or local treats: cakes, burek, coffee, beer, or fresh fruit from her garden. These little gestures made the stay feel especially warm and welcoming. We communicated using a mixture of simple English and Polish, occasionally with the help of Google Translate. A few other details: the Wi-Fi was good, and the air conditioning was a very welcome escape from the relentless summer heat outside. Overall, Villa Maria is a charming place, and Maria’s hospitality really makes it special.

One thing to keep in mind: Maria will tell you this when you arrive, but tap water in Albania is not drinkable. It is also advisable not to use it for brushing your teeth or washing fruit and vegetables. The only thing we missed was a small table inside. On particularly hot days, sitting outside on the terrace could become a little unbearable, so having somewhere to sit and eat indoors would have been useful.

Chouette petit appartement bien agencé. Pièce principale avec cuisine (suffisamment équipée) et lit superposé. Chambre parentale. SDB propre et fonctionnelle. Grande terrasse permettant de manger dehors à l’ombre. Vue splendide. Le logement est au cœur de Piqeras, charmant village loin du tumulte touristique. Il y a quelques petites épiceries et bars. C’est calme. Magnifique plage de Bunec à quelques minutes en voiture, plage familiale et calme. Sinon plage de Borsch à 20 minutes, plage immense (mais très belle aussi) et plus touristique. Superbe accueil de Maria qui a été très bienveillante et prévenante. Elle nous a amené chaque jour des petites choses qu’elle avait préparé à manger.

Our stay at the village house was wonderful. The house is charming and decorated with so much care, with little lights and beautiful details that make it very cosy and welcoming. When we arrived, Maria introduced herself and was always available to help us with anything we needed. She even showed us her lovely little garden with herbs and plants, which we really enjoyed. Just 8 minutes away, there is a beautiful, very clean beach. The river also flows into the sea there, and there is a small pier where the children had lots of fun jumping into the water. The following morning, Maria kindly offered us coffee and some delicious sweets. It was such a lovely gesture and made our stay even more special. Thank you so much for everything, Maria! It was a pleasure meeting you and staying in your beautiful home.
