Relaxation!

No hanging area for clothes just drawers, ok for a couple of days but a small hanging rail would be helpful.

Great stay

If you want a break in the middle of nowhere, with clean facilities,.and plenty walking routes around this is the place for you, no complain at all, exactly what we were looking for. Hot tub was great even in November, parking was secure too

Lovely relaxed peaceful stay.

The house was perfect for our family. Easy to find using the 3 words app sent prior to arrival. House was warm and cosy with fantastic views across the hills. The lounge was cosy and the Christmas tree was a lovely added bonus. It was a shame we couldnt stay longer but we intend on coming back and exploring some of the walks nearby. Thank you.

We had a lovely stay, got out and about for what we wanted to visit, would defo come back

We liked everything about the surrounding area and property, couldnt fault this,

I had a little slightly traumatic event on the first morning,, one of my dogs needed to go out at 0500, and i went into the "what I think is the garden" that we could use however the owners 3 jack russells came out and although my dog wasnt reactive, one jack russell decided to lunge a couple of times, the other 2 were just saying hello lol, so it could have been a disaster if anyones dog was reactive, not sure if that side of the garden needs to be sectioned off for any future visitors,, but it was all ok, but wasnt aware of a shared garden or anything. So only an observation not a criticism at all..

Hidden Gem

The hot tub was a great bonus! The price was very reasonable. The cottage was way bigger than we expected and in a beautiful, quiet location surrounded by sheep and cows.

The only thing that would make it better is if there was a drier as well as a washer. We weren't able to do our laundry because it rained the whole time and there would have been no way to get the washing dry in one night.

Peace and quiet , everything you needed was there , lots of kitchen utensils , airfryer , spice rack , oil , we usually have to take kitchen roll , toilet roll etc but this was all there .

Cottage was a base for a walk on section of Hadrians wall.

The location was ideal for the nature of our trip. The cottage had everything we needed and more. Hot tub spot on. Big beds. Clean. Four gorgeous Jack Russells were there to greet us, wished they could've stayed in the cottage with us TBH. The place is spot on and hoping to go back with my partner sometime as she'd love it.

Can't really think of anything to complain about really.

I think the back fence and table had just been creosoted because the smell on Friday evening was very strong- we didn’t stay in the hot tub very long because of it ! The back garden area is shared.

Beautiful cottage in a beautiful area.

What a beautiful cottage in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by farm animals and birds. The birds were amazing to watch from the hot tub. Inside the cottage was cosy and well decorated.

A personal preference- another frying pan/ pans that weren’t scratched and some kitchen tongs would be appreciated if we returned as we did all our cooking at the cottage and struggled with what was there.

Cutest country cottage

Absolutely perfect for a quiet retreat in the countryside, the cottage is beautifully furnished to a high standard. It was clean and comfy, dog friendly, the hot tub was lovely and relaxing. There was everything we needed in the cottage and I would definitely recommend staying here!

Lovely weekend at Whiteside

Beautiful rural location, the cottage was clean and comfortable and we loved the green theme, everyone we spoke to on farm was friendly and helpful. The gorgeous weather was a plus!

Didn't bother us personally but there were lots of birds (swifts? Swallows?) nesting in the eaves of the house- possibly worth mentioning for bookings made in spring/summer as some people can be worried about birds

Lovely rural retreat

Gorgeously decorated, comfortable beds and sofas and in a stunning rural location with amazing views and a lovely hot tub. Also loads of nice touches like games, dvds, supplies in the kitchen etc. Would definitely like to return.

Only down side was the pillows were not great - the bed itself self was really comfy and the bedding etc super soft but the pillows weren’t the best and I couldn’t sleep properly on them.

Very quiet and extremely friendly hosts who live onsite. A unique experience staying on a working farm.

Not easy to find! The layout inside was awkward. Only one full bathroom upstairs. Master and half bathroom and kitchen on main, second bedroom and living room with dining table on second floor.

Fabulously decorated and comfy accommodation within close distance to Hadrians Wall

Beautiful location close to Hadrians wall which is what we wanted to see. The house was beautifully and tastefully decorated with all kitchen accessories even an air fryer. No dishwasher but we were only there one night so it was OK. Nicola was very friendly, knowledgeable about the area which was helpful and made sure we had everything we needed, she lived next door so was close by if needed. Beautiful weather so we brought a disposable BBQ with us and Nicola kindly allowed us to light it outside her back door as there was nowhere suitable on our side.

The garden was quite overgrown with dog poo in the long grass, Nicola had said she attempted to mow it but the mower blew up on that morning.

Wonderful location,dog friendly but remember this is a farm location so there are restrictions with great views !! cottage is beautifully appointed with downstairs bedroom and toilet great for the older guests upstairs the lounge is spacious and well equipped, upstairs bedroom is large and comfortable the toilet with walk in shower (slightly dated) free standing bath are delightful highly recommend

The cottage is absolutely gorgeous. It's huge and well equipped, with a kitchen that has everything, and beds/sofas are so incredibly comfy. We loved our stay and would recommend it to anyone who likes a rural location but with great pubs/historical sites/walks within 10 mins drive.

Perfect stay.

Everything was perfect for our short stay, would have been perfect for longer stay unlike some places we have stayed, Beds very big and extremely comfortable, the whole cottage furnished very well, Nicola and her husband very friendly but certainly not intrusive, they have thought of Everything you may need,Feels like your in the middle of nowhere but only 4 mile to Haltwhisle and 2 Mile to the Milecastle Inn where we had a lovely meal, can not fault the stay, We did not have a phone signal but there is free WiFi so no issue.

There is nothing we didn't like and will certainly be back at some point,

Lovely stay and great location

The cottage was outstanding. Beds and living area were great. Loved the trip back after our evening meal with face off with the cows. Location was ideal for all the Roman forts and Hadrian’s Wall.

I’m scraping round and the only tiny thing I can think off is that a small milk would have been handy on arrival but that’s no big deal.

We persevered as it was obviously paid for but would not plan to return.

The location is excellent however the booking site does not point out that the dining/living area is upstairs which was a problem for my husband as he is not very mobile and we therefore even considered not staying. Everything was clean and tidy and even asking for another large saucepan was no trouble to Nicola. However the kitchen area does not lend it self to dining and as I say was a problem for my husband getting up the stairs.

TV in the downstairs bedroom was not working at all and it was impossible to watch upstairs as the signal keeps failing. It was also a worry not having a mobile connection which in fact proved a problem as our hospital was trying to reach us and also our house sitter when there were problems at home.

Lovely stay near Hadrian's Wall and Housesteads

The house was located on a working sheep farm---very, very comfortable and cozy. Our hosts were wonderful--very gracious and thoughtful. We very much enjoyed our stay and only wish we could have stayed longer. The views and scenery were just beautiful. A creek runs right along the house and there are stunning rolling hills all around. You could see a piece of the Wall in the distance and the farm was about 5 minutes from Waltown Crags and the Roman Museum and maybe 7 or 8 minutes to Housesteads. We would highly recommend it.

Took a while to warm up the cottage on arrival. It's a beautiful location but a long way off of the track if you are walking Hadrian’s Wall. An hours walk from the Military Road and bus only runs every hour to/from The Milecastle Inn.

Short break with parents and daughter

Just had a relaxed, amazing stay at White Side Cottage for an anniversary treat for my parents. Stayed also with my 4 year old daughter, and she absolutely loved the cows and sheep at the farm as well as plodging in the stream. Well equipped cottage with everything and more that you could possibly need for your stay. So relaxing and a gorgeous place to stay, I wanted to take the bed home with me it was so comfortable. In the middle of nowhere, which was perfect. Surroundings were perfect. Can't wait to return.
