Hotel Taray Botanico

Nice and quiet. Fantastic gardens and views. Excellent dining

I’ve been staying at Taray multiple times over the past years, and I can honestly say the place has improved a lot recently. The new management is clearly making a difference — everything feels more organized and professional. The kitchen has been completely refreshed with a new chef, and the food quality is noticeably better. Also, it’s great to see Spanish-speaking staff now, which makes communication much smoother and the whole experience more authentic. The new mattresses and fresh bed linen made a big difference — much more comfortable sleep.

I visited this hotel last year, and during my recent stay I discovered that there has been a change in management which has clearly made a positive difference. Many things have improved. The restaurant area has been updated, and the chef is doing a fantastic job. The renovated rooms feel fresh, clean, and very comfortable, with soft and cozy furnishings. This stay was even more enjoyable than the previous one.

We booked this hotel specifically for the pool, which was confirmed to be open — but it was unusable due to algae and lack of maintenance. Some parts of the property (like the "Domes") looked abandoned and unclean. Another couple was placed in a room (Room 33) that couldn’t be locked from the inside — the manager was unreachable and only arrived more than an hour later. Our room smelled unpleasant (possibly sewage or dirty cleaning water). Beds were made strangely, with ill-fitting sheets and no duvet cover on one of the beds. Room doors cannot be locked from the inside without risking your key card not working the next morning — we were only told this after it had already happened. Breakfast was very limited; while there was more than just sliced tomato and cucumber, much of it didn’t seem fresh. Coffee machine wasn’t restocked (e.g. no milk), and basics like pepper were unavailable even after asking. Staff was difficult to find at times, and communication was often unclear. Overall the place felt mismanaged, despite good intentions from the staff. The hotel has huge potential but currently feels neglected and poorly run. It’s a beautiful setting that could truly flourish with the right care and attention. We would love to return in December, but as it stands now, we’re hesitant. We hope to see this place thrive again.
