We’ve stayed in several places on the island and this was the best by far. The beach in this neighborhood is perfect. Yes it is a long walk to the boardwalk, but it’s no longer than the walk from one of the condos in the middle of the isle. The beach itself is perfect, with plenty of space if you’re willing to walk a few yards.
The house is wonderful and it was perfectly clean when we arrived. The furniture and amenities are older and not fancy, but they work just fine for a beach house. My kids loved the pool and I loved the front porch. It was perfect for a cup of coffee with a view of the beach.
Things you should know—
Bring your own hairdryer (none provided)
Classic drip coffee maker and a keurig. Bring your own basket style filters and/or k-cups.
Vacasa provides a starter pack of enough laundry and dish detergent, paper towels, and toilet paper to get you through the first day but since this rental can only do 1 week+ you will need to bring your own supply of all of those to last the whole week.
The kitchen is well equipped with pots, pans, dishes, utensils etc.
The sunroom has its own ac unit. Turn that on the second you arrive so that it will be cool by the next day.
There is a smart tv in every room so don’t forget to sign out of all of your accounts before you leave! There were several accounts still signed in on Disney+ etc.

Roomy and clean space. Photos accurately show the home interior. The bunk bed mattresses were a bit uncomfortable the other beds were fine. Walk to beach not too far even with kids. Neighborhood very safe. Easy check in and out. It would have been nice to have a “What to bring” list ahead of time. There is limited shopping on the island. Example: if you are going to cook bring foil and plastic wrap, spices, extra paper towels. (1 roll provided). Dishwasher pods (3 provided) etc.
our family had a wonderful visit and would definitely stay here again.

We really loved the house! Had everything we needed as far as what we expected to be provided (except a hair dryer, but I brought my own because I had read previous reviews).
The ONLY thing that bothered us at all in the house was that the AC couldn’t seem to keep the living room and kitchen area as cool as the rest of the house, it felt about 10+ degrees warmer in that area, although bedrooms and baths were just right! The thermostat would say that it was 75 degrees even when it had been set to 68 all day, and we kept all the curtains closed in that room all day to try to keep some sunlight and heat out, but I’m not sure if that room will just always be hotter because there’s not as much insulation in the ceiling or what, but it did get pretty uncomfortable by the afternoon/evening. And since some previous renters must have accidentally broken the tower fan that was in living room, we could turn it on but we couldn’t move it closer to where we were sitting or it would fall over. If we had realized how hot it was going to get in there we would have requested another fan to be brought over when we first got there, but it wasn’t as noticeable then and the local team did offer to come into the house, but we just didn’t realize how much we would need the fan. I would just recommend getting at least one more fan in there, a taller one that rotates would be really helpful. We did have the ceiling fan on as well. Maybe some blackout material with curtains would also help keep the heat out.
But that would not keep me from staying there again if I knew that would be addressed!
Really everything else was great and extremely clean and comfortable!
Would be nice if there were some extra beach chairs that you could carry to beach if you can’t bring your own, but I know those are not always provided everywhere. But it’s a great location and pool was very well maintained as well, such a nice, beautiful, quiet neighborhood. We stayed a few streets over years ago and were pleased that the neighborhood was still as nice as we remembered. An easy walk to beach (although not right out the front door if that’s what you are looking for), and great for riding bikes.
At first it was confusing about the trash pickup because there is more than one company who picks up, and when we got there the previous renters had left our trash can completely full but it was not picked up that day, probably because they thought it was on the same schedule as the next door neighbors’, which it is not! So at first we thought the trash that wasn’t ours would be picked up soon, but it wasn’t for several days so that was frustrating because there was no room in the outside can for our trash that needed to be taken out. But the app turned out to be correct in the instructions for the pickup days. If we had understood, we would have asked for help with getting that trash removed since previous renters didn’t get it out on time and that wasn’t our fault. But it worked out!!

One of the best family vacations we’ve had. Comfortable house. Dauphin Island is small with limited restaurant options so eating at the rental can save a lot of time. Turtle Cove is reasonably close (walking distance) to the boardwalk to get to the beach but too far to tote a lot of beach toys without a wagon. The house was very nice and comfortable for 4 adults and a few kids, but I would not recommend it for someone with mobility limitations due to the stairs. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. Not a beach view property but still very close to the water. Plenty of parking below the house.
