We had the most wonderful four-day stay, and from the moment we arrived we knew we were somewhere special. The cabin was spotless, fully equipped, and completely self-sufficient — warm, cosy, and incredibly comfortable. We genuinely couldn’t have asked for more. We were blown away by the welcome we received — stepping into the cabin to find birthday banners and balloons made the start of our stay feel instantly special. Paul and Jude went above and beyond, leaving us fresh eggs from their own chickens, bread, butter, milk, coffee beans, local cider, and even a whisky nightcap. It was such a thoughtful, generous spread that set the tone for an unforgettable few days, and we were genuinely touched by the care that went into every detail. One of our absolute favourite parts of the stay was relaxing in the hot tub under the stars. The sky was unbelievably clear, and it made for the most peaceful, unforgettable evenings. Paul and Jude were truly fantastic hosts — by far the best we’ve ever had. They gave us complete privacy throughout our stay, yet their friendly check-ins made it clear that nothing would have been too much trouble if we needed anything. Their warm and generous hospitality made the experience even more perfect. In fact, after just the first day of our four-day break, we’d already decided we had to come back. We now have two more stays booked for 2026, and we absolutely cannot wait to return. Such lovely genuine people, who just want to welcome you and share their special space they have created. Thank you, Paul and Jude, for creating such a wonderful place to unwind. We’re already counting down the days until we’re back.

An incredible and relaxed stay - all we could ask for

Our stay was absolutely incredible. The lodge is surrounded by nature, and every detail has been thoughtfully considered with so many lovely little touches throughout. The hot tub, sauna, and ice bath were an amazing bonus to enjoy every evening. Paul, the host, was fantastic—fun, welcoming, and nothing was ever too much trouble. We will definitely be back!

The location was perfect for our needs. The place was very clean, quirky and had everything we needed and wanted. Paul was lovely and very helpful. Surrounded by beautiful woods and country walks. The hot tub was perfect for unwinding at the end of the day

A welcome spot to enable us to visit family in Bovey tracey.

We were grateful for the 2 eggs left in the welcome pack, and for the fact this place was open in late September. The host was pleasant and met us even though not well. There was a hot tub though we didn't use it. It was cosy warm and clean.

This is a small quirky chalet, some would enjoy the amount of retro stuff, we found it somewhat oppressive and taking up room we needed! We found it quite difficult to unpack and find space and then be sure we had found everything when we were packing. One side of the double bed is up against the wall and there is very little space at the foot of the bed. the small dining table has a visitors book plus other stuff, the sofa is not comfortable.

Amazing cabin. great location, wonderful hosts and fabulous time!

What a hidden gem, both the location and Paul the host! We had a fabulous time, the cabin was amazing and literally had everything you could possibly need to never have left it if you wanted to! The hot tub and sauna were added bonuses and we just loved the secluded feeling despite being on the host's land. We occasionally saw them during the day but they were so respectful - the cows in the field behind and the chickens were more present than anything, which we loved as it added to that back to nature feeling! Little touches like chocolates and a calming chamomile tea bag on the bedside table plus milk, eggs, butter and bread being there on arrival made it even more lovely. It's a great location too - only 35 mins from Torquay and an hour and a half from north Devon plus the wonderful Dartmoor Park is just minutes away. All in all we had an amazing time and came away feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. Thank you Paul and Jude and we will be back!

Amazing, Didn’t want to leave!

It was so serene and really felt like you were by yourself, really good extra’s too like the hot tub and sauna. It was only a 10 minute walk into the town too which was lovely. The owners are so nice too very welcoming. They left some nice gifts and explained everything to us. Really didn’t want to leave! I have recommended this place to all my family and friends and we will 100% be returning. Thanks so much guys.

The best lodge for a cosy retreat B6 far the best lodge experience

Absolutely wonderful!!! The venue is so private, it's like your very own secret garden. Paul and Jude are the loveliest hosts and nothing was too much trouble. We were made very welcome and everything explained to us on arrival. The Lodge was unbelievable, so cosy and full of interesting items as well as all the modern conveniences you could need or want. The hot tub was sensational, so warm and inviting tucked away so very private. We used the hammocks in the trees and the fire pit nightly. I can't speak highly enough of everything. We really didn't want to leave and will definitely be returning.

A country cabin to be proud of.

Fabulous timber cabin with everything you could possibly need for a stress free stay away. The hosts were great, and Paul met us on arrival and had left us some bread, butter etc in the Lodge which was very kind. We loved the decor inside and out and looking at all the books, pictures and ornaments around. The Lodge was very well equipped with all the cooking gadgets you could possibly need. The hot tub was lovely and hot and a lovely addition.

Everything was great, the only small gripe was the bathroom and bedroom door were catching on the floor, an easy fix.

Well chilling area....Big but..

Yes even the cutlery draw was dirty.all glass and layers dirty to..both kitchen and bathroom sinks over flows didn't work . heatet was broken.owner brought another to me..As in middle of woods was cold.one key open both front and back door..didn't use hot tub due to it being clean enough.???..

I made a trap by the door when I went out for the day..it was missing when I got back..!!!??so during stay someone had been in..there was a man in the wood area when ...I was sat outside.he was moving up And down.about.3/4 times..I made. A noise he went..owner said it was his neighbour..what on your land you rent out ..I THOUGHT in my head..I didn't wash up as sink just dripping and dripping...IE I put large plastic container underneath to catch the drips.. Fridge was not right temperature.!!!..in side doors were hard to open and close due to needing more taken off bottoms of both doors.would like some reimburse funds.

A rural retreat with home comforts.

Secluded and peaceful yet within easy walking distance of Bovey. Paul was a great host, calling by to check everything was okay and we appreciated the fresh flowers, and local produce. We loved the decor in the cabin, so many interesting and upcycled items such as the ladder for a towel rail and the wall mounted suitcase to hold the sweetie jar! It was also very well equipped so cooking a meal was not a problem and very comfortable.
