A character 1960 Scandinavian holiday home - great for families and pets.

Amazing house full of character, we loved it and are definitely keen to come back again!

Incredibly beautiful views and such a lovely spot to unwind by the lake. We really enjoyed making use of the kayaks stored in the garage – a perfect way to get out on the water. The owner is genuinely friendly and goes out of their way to make guests feel welcome and well looked after.There are plenty of games available, which was fantastic for us travelling with two little kids – they had a great time. The location also works really well as a base for exploring Rotorua, the geothermal areas, or even heading out for some rafting adventures.Like many places surrounded by nature, you might come across the odd mouse or spider – all part of the experience. The terrace and balcony could do with a little bit of TLC, but overall it’s a warm, relaxed, and enjoyable place to stay.

Excellent host - very helpful

This could’ve been a 5 star stay due to the location and the uniqueness of the property but the cleanliness was an issue and there were many large spiders as well. It’s a super cool location and home but if you want to have separate spaces for people it’s kind of tricky as two of the bedrooms are open to the common area so hard to have some quiet if there are others. Getting luggage up the stairs is challenging too as they are spiral. There is one shower in the basement and a tub upstairs off the master. You can only do a squat shower there. We did enjoy the hot water beach that you can wade to!
