Chalet Aargovia

The beds were comfortable. It was nice and peaceful.

With 3 generations, we loved this chalet. In many ways it was our favorite of the trip. As is true in any car-free village (and SO worth it!), the arrival is a bit challenging -- park in the huge Lauterbrunnen lot, good train to Wengen, and then a longish walk to the chalet. I'd advise taxi for less hardy groups. The nearby COOP was great, so we bought and cooked in the lovely kitchen every day. Be sure to do the Mannlichen walk!

Perhaps be a little more specific about the length of walk from the train station. Walking to it with bags in ten minutes seems unlikely. Nonetheless, it's doable and felt shorter every time!

It’s quiet and has a great view. The bathroom has two showers and two sinks, which is nice. There is also a toilet downstairs, which is convenient. There are three rooms plus a loft, so plenty of space for my family of four.

It’s about a 10 minute walk from town. It’s not an issue for us, but after coming back from a day’s hiking, we were tired and wanted to take a short break before going to town for dinner. That’s the time when I wished the place were closer to town. The facilities were outdated. The door lock for the toilet downstairs doesn’t work well, and my wife almost got locked in. The refrigerator door doesn’t close and a rubber band tied to the side of the refrigerator is being used to keep the refrigerator door closed. The loft is dusty. Fortunately we didn’t need to use it.
