Finca Alcaparaín con Piscina en Caminito del Rey-Carratraca

a few minutes walk from the village yet very private. Everything was provided and it had a lovely pool.

Could have better directions to find it initially.

We were after a villa where we could get the family together after the Covid restrictions lifted. We picked Finca Alcaparain and I'm glad we did. It is about 40 minutes drive from Malaga airport in a rural location. It is not far off the main road although the drive can be a bit tricky to find, because it goes through a tunnel under the road. We had to ring the owners who were waiting for us and then they showed us the way. The house itself is really spacious and clean. It was 10 of us including children and we had plenty of room for everyone. The pool is not huge but big enough to cool down, it is very deep but has steps at the one end. The pool area has a gate that can be closed to keep the children away from it. There is no air-conditioning downstairs in the living areas, but to be honest we didn't really miss it. Even when it was 35ºC outside it was still pleasant inside. The kitchen is very well equipped and we cooked most dinners at home. There were plenty of plates, glasses, various pots and pans, and even two coffee makers. We even gave the outside BBQ a go and the results were great. When we arrived the owners had left us plenty of ice cubes in the freezer and a bottle of wine and some beer in the fridge. That was greatly appreciated! There are only small local food stores in the two local towns that open in the afternoon. So if you need to buy food it's best to stop off on the way from Malaga. There are Aldi & Lidl in Cartama about 25 minutes drive away from the house, just off A-357 (the road to and from Malaga). The location is very rural, but it is not far from the lakes. One of the lakes even has a blue flag beach, although it only has a small car-park that fills up quickly. So if you go later you might need to park further. Caminito Del Rey is another place worth visiting. It is only 15 minutes away and absolutely stunning. It is very popular and needs pre-booking though.

One of the beds (sofa bed) is on the upstairs landing. However, only the bedrooms are air-conditioned, so whoever sleeps there will have no air-con. That said the house is in the mountain area, so the nights are a fair bit cooler than near the coast.

Very clean and spacious property with fully equipped kitchen. Comfortable bedrooms. The very friendly host and owners greeted us at the property upon arrival and showed us around.

There is nothing we didn’t like. Did not manage to use the pool as the weather was a little too cool for it. We also didn’t manage to work out the Wi-Fi login to use upstairs so was limited to only using it downstairs.

La casa es preciosa y está en un entorno natural maravilloso. Está completamente equipada y es comodísima. Además es amplia, bonita y está muy bien cuidada. Los anfitriones muy amables y atentos. Repetiremos.

Estuvimos alojados en esta casa rural en Semana Santa. La verdad que los anfitriones Antonio y Paqui estuvieron atentos a resolver las dudas que teníamos antes de ir, estuvieron con nosotros el día de la llegada y nos aconsejaron rutas, actividades para hacer y nos informaron de dónde podíamos ir a comprar y el funcionamiento de la casa. La casa está muy bien situada ( muy cerquita de la carretera general y no hay que meterse en carreteras de montaña que al menos a nosotros no nos hace mucha gracia. La casa es amplia, está limpia y se ve que está muy bien cuidada. Tiene todos los detalles para que la estancia sea agradable. Una ventaja es que tiene cuatro cuartos de baño por lo que aunque éramos 10 personas nunca había problemas para poder usarlo. La cocina muy bien equipada con un frigorífico inmenso y además tiene en la parte de la barbacoa otro refrigerador para las bebidas. La barbacoa por cierto está cubierta lo cual es un detalle importante por si está lloviendo cuando se está usando. Los dormitorios están en la parte de arriba, dos de matrimonio con cuarto de baño propio y una habitación más grande con un cuarto de baño fuera. en el recibidor de la planta de arriba tienen también un sofá cama doble. En la parte de abajo aparte de la cocina tiene una mesa enorme para comer y un salón con juegos para los niños y juego de dardos electrónico. Tiene además una chimenea que es una pasada ya que al ser cubierta y tener un buen tiro, no huele para nada a humo cuando estás en el salón. La piscina no es muy grande. No pudimos probarla por el tiempo que hacía, pero ya la probaremos en la siguiente ocasión que vayamos. En la parte exterior tiene un césped donde la niña ha podido correr sin peligro de que se hiciera daño y un solárium y aparcamiento de sobra para todos los coches que vayan. El pueblo está a sólo 5-10 minutos andando por lo que tienes la posibilidad e ir a comprar algo que se te haya olvidado. En resumidas cuentas, hemos estado de lujo.
