A magical experience ina beautiful setting.

Loved the location, the awesome Christmas Trees and open fires. Staff were all friendly, accommodating and couldn’t do more for us - they all went above and beyond. Beds were comfortable and food was delicious.

Torrential rain on first night resulting in leaks all over the building, including our bathroom ceiling. No lift access to our room (I have mobility issues)

Friendly staff. Comfortable accommodation, good public areas. Don't forget your swimming things as there is a spa / pool free for guests to use.

Unfortunately I doubt I’ll stay here again

Location and hotel lovely. The ladies on reception -pm and am were friendly & helpful.

Unfortunately very slow dinner service, when food did arrive it was tasty. I joined my colleague at the his breakfast table, and although the waiter saw me come in and sit down , he didn’t bother to come over and offer me tea/coffee or breakfast service. He attended to new arrivals - i was ignored. My colleague tried to get his attention but to no avail (not a busy time in the breakfast area) so we left a- I took a banana & had my colleagues left over pot of tea. Drafty bathroom window which needs repairing- locking it causes a bigger gap than not locking the window.

A family favourite get away

Always so cosy and great customer service. We needed some ideas of where to go, given the storm and Balmoral being closed. The lady at reception wrote us a list of options - ended up at Castle Fraser which was such a great day out. A huge thank you to the lady, she went above and beyond to help us.

Never stayed!

This was received at 9.30pm It turns out the hotel had double booked our room and four others. When I finally got a reply on the phone, which was no mean feat, they could not have cared less. Good evening, Apologise for the late email. We have had an unforeseen maintenance issue in part of our hotel meaning we are no longer able to accommodate your booking for Saturday evening. We apologise for the short notice and any inconvenience caused. If we do not hear from you this evening then we will try and phone you in the morning. Do not stay here

Appalling experience. Room cancelled by perfunctory email on evening prior to arrival. Despite numerous phone calls no one to explain; just a perfunctory email telling us to book elsewhere. Then booking reinstated by email on morning of arrival……. However when we arrived we were told that room had been rekey to someone else. Total confusion amongst staff. No apology, just told to book elsewhere.

Enjoyed a few days away relaxing.

Location was stunning , beautiful grounds. Staff were amazing so pleasant , breakfast superb with great choice and all cooked fresh to order. Housekeeping great job considering rooms need refreshed .

Rooms are dated and need serious money spent on them, stained carpets, damp, wallpaper/paint coming off walls , bath worn & chipped , spa - good gym, but pool is dated, nowhere to relax round it , jacuzzi not working , lockers broken. Issues with dinner service.

Location and property where exceptional, spa treatment prices where particularly steep, food was great. The bed however was extremely uncomfortable, mattress is at the end of its life, woke up sore both days.

My only criticism was the bed needs a new mattress.

Slightly below the standard I would expect from a four star establishment.

It was a wedding. The glasses of fizz were very nice. The haggis sausage rolls were extremely good.The wedding meal was also really good and the staff were attentive . I would say the main course was the highlight and exceeded my expectations. Breakfast was ok on first morning (Scottish breakfast) and the haggis/black pudding very good.

The room wasn’t particularly well serviced while I was there. Only one biscuit on first day which wasn’t replenished. Overall I didn’t feel that I was in a four star hotel as too many things seemed to fall short of what I would expect. Compared to other members of the wedding party I feel I paid over the odds for what I experienced. All of my friends experienced issues with check-in/rooms/booking conformations etc.

Pleasant situation, friendly staff but a few little disappoinments

The breakfast on Saturday was very good and what we expected from our previous visit. The hotel and grounds are very pleasant and it's situation is ideal for the purpose of our visit. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Our room was changed on request

The original room allocation in attic had paint peeling on the ceiling over the bed and emergency evacuation route was unacceptable. Poor room ventilation due to window opening restricted.Get There was a lack of the usual facilities usually found in hotel rooms, no conditioner or tissues.

Quality property and great service and food

Staff were well trained and attentive, food was excellent, service staff were great. Really enjoyed the stay and sorry it wasnt for longer. Hotel exceeded our expectations.

Don't put the postcode into the satnav, ended up in the middle of nowhere on a single track farm access road. If driving use the name to search on. Other than that, no issues

Seemed to be issues with breakfast? Not usual menu and the hot buffet was limited choice. This is unusual here as previous stays had great breakfasts. Cold menu choices were good.

After being recommended it was a big disappointment.

Room good. Breakfast food ok service poor not enough staff no orange juice in large container. Dinner ok again not enough good staff. Dining room very tired carpet needs replaced.

As above. On arrival had to wait as receptionist was very busy and needed more than one person at reception to cope with the number of guests. My wife booked a spa treatment on the Sunday but when arrived for it she was told that the person to do it her car had broken down and would not be able to attend.Surely other personel should be available as back up.

The location and staff were amazing

We booked a deluxe room but there wasn’t much about the room that looked deluxe. Unfortunately we ended up in a room with a small window too high to see out of. We also had a low beam at one side of the bed which made it awkward when getting in and out of that side of the bed. The swimming pool was filthy. So much scum on the tiles surrounding the pool and ‘used’ plasters lying around the pool. Not nice to see and we felt uncomfortable in the pool.
