Spend the day on Lake Chatuge with a boat or personal watercraft rental from a local marina or launch your own from nearby public access. Want to immerse yourself in nature in the Nantahala National Forest? Bring your mountain bikes and ride the first-class trails at Jackrabbit Mountain (also great for hiking and dog-friendly) less than 5 minutes from the property. We love the #lakelife around here as well as the majestic mountains. So much to do and see right in town. We have a handy Welcome Book in the house full of dining options, things to do, shopping, hiking and waterfall trails. Wineries with live music events and tastings are plentiful. And a short 25 min drive to Helen for tubing or zip lining.
There are several excellent boat rental places in the area! We use Lake Chatuge Marine, Young Harris Water Sports, Boundary Waters... The fellas will help you out! All kinds of water toys too like jet skis, stand up paddle boards and kayaks.
Hike or drive to the apex of Bell Mountain, which overlooks Lake Chatuge below and provides picturesque mountain views. Shooting Creek Overlook is breathtaking. Visit Brasstown Bald, the highest point in Georgia. Jackrabbit Mountain and Chatuge Dam. Both Towns County (Hiawassee GA) and Clay County (Hayesville NC) have super parks and beaches. Trailheads of the Appalachian Trail, which spans from Georgia to Maine, are less than 10 miles from this home.

Dock
Water levels on Lake Chatuge are seasonal. From mid-September through mid-May, water may be too low for boats to remain parked at the dock. However, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards can be enjoyed year-round and are available for rent at local marinas. Guests are welcome to use the dock at any time, along with any water toys provided and left on the dock.

Our group enjoyed every part of our 4-day stay at the lake. The views were awesome and the neighborhood was very quiet. We utilized the hot tub and fire-pit during our stay and the owners provided additional towels and wood for us. The kitchen was well equipped with all your baking/cooking needs.
Although the bathroom floors seemed like they weren’t really swept, it didn’t affect our stay in anyway and the rest of the house seemed very clean.
We highly recommend this property and would stay again!

One of our senior ladies tripped while stepping from the living room to the kitchen.. a 1 1/2 inch step up. She fell on her face severely bruised, loosened two teeth and hurt her wrist. This is a hazard that needs to be corrected. All else in the property was great.
