Hotel Grand Stark

The hotel is nicely renovated, the common areas as well as the rooms attractive and comfortable. The staff are excellent. They are friendly and helpful. The location is mixed. There is easy access either walking or public transportation to all the sites. There were quite a few excellent restaurants in walking distance. There is a large unhoused population all around the property. We were never bothered by anybody and the hotel is very secure. One just needs to know that the overall area is down and out. Lastly, the hotel does not currently have their restaurant open. They provide morning coffee and have a bar open in the evening. While there weee many good nearby restaurants for lunch and dinner, the only place for breakfast Nextdoor appeared to be a greasy spoon and not appealing.

The neighborhood around the hotel was a little rough, but it wasn’t a major issue for me.

It was super cute and really aesthetic inside!!!

The location was convenient for what we had planned in Portland

The first room we were given was facing a busy street and was very noisy. We requested a different, quieter room which we only given to us after some back and fourth. The room was pitched to us as an „upgrade“ however there was nothing better about this room except it was quiet. In fact, the layout of the room was awkward, with the bed in the center of the room, no night stand or plugs for phones near the bed and the tv parallel to the bed. Cleanliness of the room was ok at best. Valet prices were $50something plus tip per night.
