Gweda Lodge Mabalingwe Nature Reserve

We had a wonderful time at Gweda lodge. The house was beautiful and very comfortable. It almost felt like we were alone in the reserve. Donald and Jac were the true ‘ icing on the cake’. Lots of thanks to them for their incredible service and lovely food. Donald made our son’s 21st birthday extra special with a birthday cake that was truly delicious. We took Donald’s advice and rented the game vehicle that comes with the house to drive around the reserve. It was brilliant! We were lucky enough to see most of the ‘ big 5’; elephant, rhino, buffalo, impalas, warthogs and even giraffes in the garden of the lodge! The advice to visit the Boschpoort predators on the last day of our visit was spot on.

Nothing; everything was lovely

Donald & Jacqueline were the highlight of our trip ! The food was amazing the experience was off the roof , we had so much fun and will definitely be back next year !

Spacious, beautifully appointed, well maintained, beautiful location, staff were excellent. really enjoyed our time there.

Some of the aircons were not working. There is a window in the loft room that does not have a curtain. Some suggestions: The ladders in the loft rooms are quite precarious… Could do with a railing and a little gate at the top or something (or could be replaced with a small staircase or something to make it safe for kids). Patio could do with some more comfortable seating like some couches or something.

The house is very spacious and big enough for a large family holiday. It comes standard with a Chef and helper that take care of you during the full duration of the trip.

The bedroom upstairs has an amazing view however it’s made for children as you often have to bend to get out of bed
