Moksham Himalayan Campsite Pangot

Sometimes, if you are very lucky, you’ll get to stay in a two types of places when you travel to another country. The first type of place usually possesses the excitement of somewhere new. The landscape is different; colours brighter or flowers stranger, the architecture not found in your home country. Or the second kind of place, where it feels like somewhere you have been before. The rooms glow with warm lighting, there might be a universal adapter plug, & cosy bedding. This easy effect creates a type of comfort that comes with familiarity, or closeness. It is a rare, & a very lucky thing, to stay in a place that brings about these almost-contradictory effects: how can a place be familiar, but also exciting? Moksham is this very rare place, & my small group and I felt very, very lucky to stay there. The cabin/tents were beautifully decorated & cosy. Helpful things like a kettle & teabags/very comfortable beds. (We also found out they were weatherproof/ super secure, after we experienced a pretty awesome storm!) View from cabins was incredible, sit on the decking just to look at the mountains. It’s more than just somewhere safe/ beautiful to stay. Ankit is the force behind Moksham, & his knowledge/wisdom about the area, the mountains, closest towns, is 2nd to none. Everyday, he carefully considered how he could make our stay better. Definitely ask about local walks, about taxis/ guides to take you to Nainital & towns, he has some excellent contacts who are just as knowledgeable, easy going/ fun as he is. The food is also fantastic, I think it was the best food we experienced on our stay. The garden is amazing, Ankit’s talented wife & business partner Yashika tends to a range of stunning plants. The staff at Moksham were incredibly helpful as well. We had such an amazing time at Moksham. If you are considering booking their place, I am a little envious, as that means you get to go and stay there!

The location and our hosts Ankit and Yashika along with all the staff were wonderful. The walk up to Ganiyal Devi Temple to see the Himalayas each morning of our stay was a particular highlight, especially since Ankit kindly provided a flask so we could enjoy a morning coffee at the top. I can't recommend this place enough, just book it!!

We had an amazing stay at Himalayan Campsite. The staff and host are very sweet and friendly here, while the location and view was beautiful. Also the food was great and tasty. If you are coming via your own vehicle, this is a very good and safe option
