God's Own Cottage - an idyllic resort in the Kumaon Hills of North India

The bungalow is located at Bhowali on top of a hill at about 6000 ft. Set amidst tall pines, oaks and other conifers, it has a dominating view of the Kumaon Hills and the valley of Shyamkhet below. Almost at the edge of a jungle in a rural setting it is secluded and private yet totally safe and secure; somewhat “off the beaten track”. It is about 2 km from the town of Bhowali, which is considered one of the finest health resorts because of its salubrious climate throughout the year.

The Cottage is constructed on a hillside with a motorable road right upto the porch. On entering you come into the lobby that leads to a large Living cum Dining Room, the Sun cum Bed Room, the kitchen, Washroom and balconies over looking the countryside below. The lobby also leads down wooden steps to the two bedrooms. The larger bedroom has an attached bathroom, a changing room and a big covered balcony as a sit out. The smaller bedroom is at a level below and has an attached bathroom with a small covered porch that leads into the main garden below. The gardens at various levels are well maintained and manicured - wooden benches and a swing are available to sit amidst flowers, fruit and other exotic trees.

The entire cottage is suitably provisioned for both summer and winter conditions - fire places, electric and gas heaters and fans etc. The kitchen is spacious, modern and fully equipped with refrigerators, cooking gas, oven , microwave and necessary utensils and crockery. The elegant decor of the bungalow and tastefully done up interiors with high pine wood ceilings, quirky memorabilia of old world charm, paintings with ornate frames, lithographs, old books and magazines along with the log wood fed fire places makes for a truly memorable experience in the hills.

The Caretaker and the Cook live adjacent to the property and look after the guests. The Cook makes fine Indian meals on order. Adequate parking is available for 2-3 cars. We also have a small car at the premises to be provided to guests, if necessary. Stand by electricity is available through a 6.5 KVA Gen & an Inverter. Solar lights are provided around the property. We are very centrally located within easy distance of a taxi stand (2 km ), rail head (25 km ) and airport ( 35 km ). And being in the "Lake District " of the country it has a lot of touristy places in its vicinity.
