Charming apartment full of character right in the historic center of Lucca

It was a roomy and traditionally charming apartment with a lovely terrace (that we would have used a lot if the weather had been warmer – we were there in mid-November). The bed was comfortable. It was quiet despite its location right in the historic center of Lucca. A good restaurant (one of several recommended by our host) was right outside the front door. It was in walking distance to everything we wanted to see in the city.

Our stay was unfortunately timed for when our host was away. A neighbor said that he is usually almost always there. Because of his absence, we didn’t have the in-person benefits of a helpful host, such as pick up at the train station or help with the luggage up the stairs that others have described. However, he always responded to communications in a timely, helpful, cordial and friendly manner. Still, there were some aspects of our stay that might have been better if he had been there. The main thing is that the apartment was quite cold. When first asked about that, our host suggested opening the radiator valves. But it turned out they were open and that didn't help. When asked again the next day, he had recourse to asking a neighbor-tenant to adjust the thermostat, which had been set quite low - after that the temperature was fine. I caught a bit of a cold there....Another thing is that the rather steep three flights of stairs are a challenge if one has a lot of luggage - but we managed.

Charming apartment with character, excellently located in the historic center of Lucca.

Italian charm in a private relaxed apartment.

The property has a beautiful older Italian style with all mod cons done in a sort of “Italian” way. It’s very close to all the Lucca highlights. We stayed in the two bedroom apartment which had many windows which provided much light and fresh air. We opened them all and enjoyed the views The terrace looked over rooftops and was used for breakfast and late evening relaxing before we headed out. The apartment is well stocked and there is a mini market immediately outside the front door. The host Francesco is very obliging and friendly. He gave us many tips on restaurants and cafes. And he collected us from our car drop off and when we left he drove us to the station. Truly a fine gentleman.

There are many steps to the apartment as it is on the third floor. Francesco helped us carrying suitcases.

Just all round perfect

The owner keeps in touch with you from early start so no panic where to go. Drive from Florence to Lucca was so easy and you get one of his free, yes free parking spaces. He will then collect you and drive you right to the apartment. Apartment is perfect location, has everything you need. We sat on the balcony, cooked amazing food, lush win and great coffee in the morning. The owner will update you on anything you need, places to go etc. Easy to get on a bike and cycle to Pisa, or train. When I come back I will stay with him again. Thank you, you made a perfect and relaxing start to our road trip

The property was well situated, with an extremely welcoming host. Francesco could not have been more helpful. We loved the decor of the property too. What a beautiful home.

Great host, nice apartment, fab location.

As many others have said, Francesco is a super host - meeting us at the train station to transport some of us and all our bags to the apartment (and it's not a long walk either), very helpful in answering questions, and just friendly! The apartment was spacious for our family of 5. It's in a great location for exploring Lucca, 2 minutes walk and you're in the centre of everything - 15 minutes walk gets you anywhere. Handy supermarket next door.

There is nothing to dislike. It has lots charm and some things took a bit of time to work out - like which light switches turned on what light - but nothing to dislike as such. Would stay here again.

The apartment was beautiful. Exactly what we expected. Francesco is very helpful. Charming balcony.

Didn't realise there were 95 steps up to the apartment. Francesco helped with the luggage. Unless you were able to do steps, this would not be a good choice of apartment. For us, it was perfect. It was worth the climb.

Incredible apartment, painstakingly restored and updated with charm and modern amenities.

This was a stunning property that was large, comfortable and full of history. Perfect location inside the walls and easy to walk everywhere. Francesco was an amazing host. He picked us up and dropped us off at the train station. He shared restaurant recommendations (the place just next door in the square was delicious), and stories of Lucca. Excellent grocery store next door. Comfy beds, big modern bathroom, lovely terrace. We felt lucky to have found this most special spot.

Dream apartment in centre of the old town

This apartment was the dream old town apartment. Beams, decorative tiles on the floor, high ceilings, an excellent terrace and an amazing stove. What more could you want. The position is very central so you can walk anywhere in Lucca you want. There is both an excellent tattatoria and a supermarket just downstairs. Francesco is a very helpful host, driving us to the railway station when we left. We had arrived by car and he directed us to free parking which was within easy walk of the apartment.

Not that it was a problem for us but the apartment is up 3 stories with no lift so if you have mobility problems it might be an issue.

Perfect appartment, perfect location, perfect host

Francesco went above and beyond all other hosts - collected us from the train station and drove us to the apartment and then returned us to the train station. The apartment was much bigger than expected and was in a perfect location. Francesco gave us lots of information of places to visit and eat at during our stay. Everything was absolutely perfect for us.

Very conveniently located and well equiped However if you are going there by car, definitely coordinate with the friendly owner Francesco or else it is easy to get lost/stuck in the narrow one way streets. He is always ready to help. Well worth it as long as the stairs don't bother you.

Stating in this flat was a fantastic experience, and right in the center of beautiful Lucca.

Francesco was fabulous! He went out of his way to make sure our stay was perfect, and offered extensive assistance and suggestions as needed. The flat totally exceeded my expectations, especially the modern facilities, historical furnishings and large inviting terrace. I ended up staying for a month rather than the two weeks planned, settling in as if the flat were my own. Home sweet home!

This lovely flat was my ‘home sweet home’ for more than a month. It exceeded all my expectations.

A lovely apartment with a fab terrace and close to everything

The apartment was much bigger than expected and full of charm. Very nice shower. The best part was the amazing terrace, we spent a lot of time there! The location was nice and quiet but walkable to everything. Francesco was a terrific host, responding very quickly to any questions.

It was all wonderful. Windows on 3 sides. We enjoyed sitting on the patio and hearing birds and bells. The location is really convenient to everything incuding grocery shop around the corner. .But the best part was the congenial and generous host. We would love to return. This place is perfect for long term stays.

Be aware the aparment is 65 steps up.. consider it good training for climbing the various towers.

Feeling at home in Lucca.

A fabulous apartment! This corner apartment has so much charm. It has been lovingly renovated in a warm and cosy style by the charming and helpful host, Francesco. There is a great Italian-style kitchen and a wonderful balcony. The shower works a treat and the apartment is super clean. The location is brilliant with great bakers, restaurants and cafes on a few minutes walk away. We will be back!

This place is NOT as the reviews say!!!

Not much. It started with the son’s owner getting into a fight with a taxi driver. Then we we’re given the wrong keys and asked to meet the owner to make the exchange, which was very inconvenient! The shower didn’t work properly and we were scolded for not calling late the night before. I’m just really surprised the ratings this place gets.

The beds were sooo old! You could feel the button’s in the top of the mattress, sheets we’re old and pillows should be thrown out!! The only dish towel in kitchen had holes in it! Oh and the bathroom rug was old and tired. Really this property hasn’t put much thought into how it presented. I wondering how it has gotten such good reviews?!?!
