My family and I just spent Thanksgiving week at the Purple Pelican. In the last 10 years, I've booked multiple houses and condos in Galveston for various vacations. I always do my homework and have had good experiences at all the places we have stayed but objectively, the Purple Pelican is the best. First, the location is excellent. Close enough to everything in Galveston. While it is not beachfront, the views are still very nice and the beach is a one minute walk away. The house itself is outstanding. It feels new, inside and out. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. So many decks with comfortable outdoor furniture to lounge on! The house was immaculate on arrival. Everything worked - appliances, televisions, etc. The beds are comfortable. The house was very well furnished. So often, rentals do not have enough furnishings or decor and therefore feel a bit empty. This is not the case with the Purple Pelican. The furnishings and decor filled the space tastefully and fully enough to make the house feel cozy. Then there are the smaller details that make all the difference for me as a frequent renter - excellent laundry facilities, Kleenex in every bathroom, high quality paper towels and toilet paper, nice bath and hand towels, hangers in the closet. There was nothing we needed or wanted that wasn't provided. As someone who travels a lot, I know an excellent rental when I experience it and the Purple Pelican is excellent. We will definitely go back one day.

The house was fabulous and well equipped. A second toaster with a family of 7 would have been greatly appreciated. The views were spectacular and the short walk to the beach was great. So nice to have the space to stretch out and be comfortable for the whole family. If we are every back in the Galveston beach area, i would rent this place again in a heartbeat.

The home and amenities were fabulous! Beachside Village is a great area. The beach access from the house is very convenient. We were very disappointed to find those little German roaches in the kitchen, in drawers and in the dishwasher after it was run. When we mentioned this issue to the homeowner his response was that it was time to spray again. The property manager did reach out on Wednesday after the issue was reported on Monday but I didn’t get his voicemail until Thursday. I returned his call and he offered to have someone come out and spray. We were nearing the end of our stay and didn’t want to have to worry about getting everything out of the way for an exterminator to spray the home properly to rid the home of these pests for the following guests. We were traveling with small children and cleanliness was very important to us. The roach issue really put a bad taste in our mouth about the entire stay. I understand that pests can be an issue anywhere, but for what we paid to rent the house, we should not have had to deal with roaches daily.
