About this house rental
If you want to escape and relax, you’ve come to the right place !
10 minutes from the Gironde estuary, La Vieille Grange is a cottage for 2 to 4 people located in Charente Maritime. It is surrounded by vineyards and rolling countryside, within 30 minutes of a nice beach with lots of lovely local places to visit and with easy access to the life of Bordeaux, La Rochelle, St.Emilion and Cognac.
The cottage is spacious (100 m2), independent (adjoining our house) and is composed as follows :
On ground floor :
Kitchen/dining room : fully equipped incl full sized oven, breakfast bar, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer, microwave, dining table/chairs.
Living room : with Godin log burner, sofa.
Bathroom : bath.
Separate WC.
Entrance hall, with spiral staircase (quite steep !) up to :
On 1st floor :
2 large bedrooms although with some low beams :
Main double bedroom for 2 people, incl. sofa and aircon.
Mezzanine double bedroom for additional 2 people, leading to main bedroom
Outside :
A garden room/terrace with triple sliding patio doors, opening onto pool area and stunning views across garden and valley beyond.
Use of 11mx5m swimming pool - May to October incl. The pool is approx 1m in the shallow end and approx 2m at the deep end, with a diving board.
Dogs are not allowed in the pool.
Garden - approx 1 acre - incl boules pit and picnic area.
Whilst the gite is attached to our house, it is completely self contained and the terrace is divided to provide privacy.
All bedlinen and towels are included, apart from pool/beach towels.
COVID 19 : all heath measures are taken to fight the virus in accordance with the legislation in force.

PS : As you can see, we don't charge any fees for the cleaning. However, if the place is not a minimum clean by the end of the stay, we will charge 150 Euros.

Very enjoyable and relaxing week, great pool area which was very welcome given the 40 heat.Owners/hosts were very welcoming and helpful.Would definitely like to return some time in the future.

We couldnt have asked for a nicer prpoerty in a beautiful area. The hosts were extremely friendly and hospitable, communication throughout the booking was great. The pool was beautiful and highly maintained. The accommodation is as descibed with a garden room overlooking the large garden and pool area

Sue & I have just returned from an idyllic stay at this property - our hosts were perfect, offering help/information/advice when asked ….. yet remaining in the background at all times.
The accommodation is perfectly situated for exploring the entire Charente-Maritime area.
A great many kilometres we’re driven, but it was definitely worth it.
Blaye, Royan, La Rochelle, Jonzac, Cognac and Bordeaux were just a few of our destinations …… all were beautiful and oozing history.
The local town of Mirambeau may be a sleepy place, but there are a couple of welcoming cafes to wile away the hours people-watching ….. plus, there’s also a couple of eateries for those evening meal treats.
Regarding the accommodation ….. everything you could wish for is provided, and the 20m pool was used tirelessly by Mrs C.
Anybody thinking of getting away to solely recharge their batteries, this is the place to stay. It may not be as well-known as the Dordogne, for example ….. but it has its own gems that are definitely worth seeing.
